Default Best V Blades for Stratus & Ultimate 3D head

Guys, I have decided to get a set of V Blades to try out on my Stratus. I am used to flying Sabs but want to try something with a bit more bite.

I am runing 8.18 with a YS91 and from what I have seen on here I think it sounds like 710's are the way to go length wise. Am i right in thinking that I need 14mm Roots?

Is this the right choice for my engine / ratio ?

Thanks

z

Dave,
"8.18 gear ratio Ys91" does that combination work? I thought 8.45 for the ys is the best?
Sorry Zilly I didn't mean to highjack your thread.

Yeah 8.45 is the best for the YS as far as I know.

I just put my new V's on my extreme and they do bite hard but they dont seem to auto as good as my SAB's. Same weight and length between the two but I only got like three flight and some baby autos before my glitches hit.

Radar, quite a few people run 8.18 on the YS especially if running an MP2 which I am.

8.18 works fine with the YS 91. I have even ran it on 7.91 and that works fine also. The YS 91 is a workhorse motor and likes to be loaded and working.

The V Blades bite very hard at the top end of the collective.
I would suggest to use some Expo on the top end of the curve in autorotation mode only.
Flatten the curve at the top end i.e reverse curve of what you normally do with expo.
It made a big difference on my Fury Expert. My autos have now a lot more reserve.
Pilots that fly the the same model a lot don't need it, but guys like me that fly occasionally and have different helies and blades...it definitely helps.
