Who is still loving their 550?

I check in on the AleeS thread every so often in hopes of a new 550 from Charley. Matt

A reasonably priced, single 6S powered lightweight 550 seems to be a good place to put a new product.

Mat Botas put the synergy E5 right there, although it is a little heavy because of the parts it shares with the E6/E7. I almost pulled the trigger on one of those.A Beautiful machine.

I just got a cheap used Fusion 50 to fool around with. I prefer the O550.

If anyone wants to swap airframes let me know. This fusion is low hours.

Easier to mount flybarless controls, ESCs etc.

Just for fun, I have modified my flybar head to make an flybarless head for my second O550. No parts to buy, just a few metals parts and screws and a few hours of my spare time. I put a Spartan Vortex VX1E on it and try in my backyard and she is flying as well as my KDS head on my other O550. 0.0$ to have fun

I am fooling around with a fusion 50.(same head as a O550 )

Running 6s with a 1220KV motor , main is 129T pinion is 12T.

MR Mels headspeed calculator puts rotor speed around 2500RPM.
Seems to fly OK,but the headspeed seems high to me, It is in line with a Synergy E5 with a 1100kv scorpion.

Should I be shooting for 2000rpm?

Should I get a 900KV motor? or just back off on the throttle curve?

Any opinions / advice

Had a great time flying one of my O550s all weekend at Cajun Helifest. Still amazes me at all the compliments about how well these helis fly. This is my go to favorite heli to fly.

I am happy to see that there are yet somebody who fly their Outrage 550.
My two Outrage are ready for another year of wonderfull fly as soon as the weather permit.

I bought an early carbon OR 550 and but it carefully it wast favorite helifreak.
Unfortunately it just hangs on the wall with a fly around still attached
I'm about ready to hook a 6s pack up to it and go for it
I haven't flown any oft still FB helix in a long te
I just never selly stuff and I've ended up with 40+ planes and 20+ helis and 2 quads I should sell something every now and then

Gonna take a quick flight today on my way to work. This will be the first one since early December. I really need to get out more. I converted my second O550 to FBL over the winter but I'm having issues getting the 3GX to work right. I think I might just go with another Skookum 540 so both helis are the same...

I have a 540 on my X3 with the internal governor, great governor. Went to another fun fly two weekends ago and flew the heck out of my 550. Put a couple of flights on my new Ballistic too.

I have a Fusion set up for 550mm blades and 6s. The O550 is much lighter and flies better. I might see if someone wants to trade. I would rather have (2) O550s than one of each.

That could be a tough trade now with the current status of Outrage.

What current state? Outrage is dead.
Both helicopters are one crash and done as far as I am concerned.

If I could swap the Fusion for a 550 it will 2 crashes and done

Sorry to hear you are low on spares, I can keep mine going for a little bit with what I have. What really sucks is my Ballistics may be going parts lean too, love them also.

I am still loving mine, running out of main gears, but will fly it until there is no way to fly anymore. Really like this heli
