Default Gaui 200 build videos

Never say NEVER as James Bond did....

Well OK I am doing a Gaui 200 build video series WHY? Because I have been asked by users more times than I can count and TWO because a great sponsor like Empire RC asked as well.

I am still skeptical how much I will like to fly a heli this size but now I will find out! In the end I am looking forward to it because anything heli is something I enjoy!

BTW this stuff is SMALL! I am going to focus on things related to SMALL!

So let's get on with it!

Video Link ->What's in the box!! (38 Megs)

OK, since this is a pre-built heli I thought I would go over some stuf and review the airframe. So these 3 segments are about the airfame Head, frames, belt, pinion, and tail!

Video Link ->Main frame overview and Pinion setup (45 Megs)

HF user Nexgen also did some great videos on the Gaui 200 with some tips worth looking at!
Watch them here in this post.

Hi Bob,

Thanks for taking the time to do a build vid on the little 200. Is this the flybarless version? I just wanted to know before I start downloading.

Thanks,
G

No it is not... Did you watch the in the box video? It is NOT a FES version. Maybe later as I work with EmpireRC I will do something with FES.

BOB, looking forward to the build, even though i'm not a great fan of heli's this size.
But like you said never say never.

I was cringing when you were spinning the head with no tail servo attached. If the blades were at full right pitch, the links might have been knocked off

What links? There are no "links" on the V2 tail slider?

The links that go from the slider to the blade grips? These ones with the small bearings in them

Those aren't links.... they are screwed on control arms.
I just tested and even with the slider all the way to either side, spinning the head does not cause any interference that would pop anything off.... EVEN if the slider is all the way to the tail case with the arms folded inward. Yes I am aware of not allowing the slider to travel fully.

Now if you have your tail blades not straight out (folded back or something) then like any heli the blades will hit something.

Anyway I am not seeing the concern here...

Bob,
They must have made a change to the design then, because mine can hit the case on full right travel, which knocks the links off the bearings, and other guys have had the same problem

I just checked mine, and there's no contact at either end of travel, but when I pulled the slider full in, one of those joints in the control arms went over center and the blade locked at 90 degrees. I had to disassemble the control arm to get it back.

If your blades are just over horizontal to the boom, you won't see the mechanical interference until you turn the blades, but they will go over centre like you say. Poor design imho!
There should be maybe something like a shoulder out from the casing, or a bush, to stop this happening. When I took mine out of the box and span the blades by hand, I felt something rattle but couldn't see what caused it because the slider had re-centered and the links were still attached.
When I set the tail up for full travel with no bind either end, I still never spotted the problem untill I gave it full right stick on the floor and the links flew off
Stewart.

Just limit your tail servo throw so it cant travel that far to allow a grip arm to flip inside. Other helis I have built can do this too. Not a biggey.

Bob.
Your video's are the reason I stuck with this hobby and I respect your knowledge, but if, like me, anyone building this model is given a Chinese manual (and can't read Chinese) and have had models like my last 5, where there is no mechanical interaction at full throw, then a wrecked tail linkage IS a biggie.
Anyway, I know you'll point it out in the build and save future owners the problems some of us have had Also watch out for the swash bearing loose in the cup. I had to Locktite mine back in, after it came apart!
Cheers,
Stewart.
