Default 5cell modified Lepton

I have just finished my last Lepton project.
I was not fully satisfied with the agillty of my Lepton.
It was not as sharp and crisp as I wanted.
So I have made a brand new Paddle for it...

The result is perfect. The cyclic speed is double, and the response time is also better. It is a little more wind sensitive, but same precise.

I also made some other modifications:

- Longer tailblades ( Shuttle tailblades trimmed to 65mm )
- Bottom carbon plate ( protect the rear side of the frame )
- ESC holder carbon plate
- New carbon fins ( longer vertical fin )
- 3mm carbon spacer to lift up the tail
- 19T pinion on the Hacker A20-10XL
- New, stronger 94T maingear ( real machined derlin )
- Carbon tailboom brace
- Custom made paddles ( 33*65mm, 5g )

All of the tuning parts designed and made by me. The CNC machinig is my second hobby.

The other config:
- 5cell Polly 3700XP
- Kontronik Jazz 55-10-32
- Medusa 2A/6V BEC ( not the 3,5A version!!!! )
- Multiplex Polo 4 Digi digital sero on cyclic ( really fast and strong )
- Futaba GY410/9650
- Futaba 149DP

Hello,
Thanks for the very interestings info. I can see that your Hacker motor has the fan dedicated to it. Is this fan a Hacker option or is it some aftermarket part? I will probably use a Hacker too. My Lepton is on his way to me...

NICE Kövi.....

Love the main gear!

The paddles look like you made them out of a set of blades? What did you do inside to secure them to the flybar?

I also see you have the balls flipped on the seesaw mixer arms to prevernt the links from binding. Did you notice and flight difference? I did not and am running mine like that as well since I dont like that they bind.

Thanks for sharing!

Bob

Hi Nicolas,

Te cooling fan is original Hacker. Unfortunately it is only option part for the A30 series but standard accessory for the A20 series what i used in my custom built Trex.
It is very easy to install just 4 screw...
The temperature of the motor was around 40C after a hard fly.

Hi Bob,

Yes the paddles made of a SAB 320 rotorblades.
I made an ally part with threads to hold and fix the paddle. I used epoxy to fix it inside of the rotorbalde. It is fixed to the carbon too and not only the hard foam ( the inside is 24mm long and touch the carbon surface ).
I used CNC router for the blade cutting and a CNC milling center for the drilling so the balancing was unnecessary.

I saw the ball flipping at first on Your machine Bob!
I fipped them also and it works fine without the risk of the bindings.
I also bent the pushrod as you can see. It also prevents the bindings like on my Hirobo Freya EX.

The original maingear is horrible expensive ( same as the EX maingear for my Freya EX ).
So I made a new series. It made of derlin and really machined. It is much more stronger and looks very cool and just 3g heavier.

Not so good. .5 pitch is very fragile. A friend is often breaking his Logo 10 main gear at start-up because of that. It's the gear pitch of a T-Rex! I think some other helis use .7, maybe Eco-8 from Ikarus. Or maybe the Robbe spirit too. This could be a better idea since we ask the Lepton to be very powerfull.

Some Logo's use a larger pitch. I had a Logo 14 that was 0.7, that would be the ideal pitch.

Hirobo use 0,6M in the Lepton and 1M in the glow helis.
It works well in extreme conditions also.

Logo 14 use bigger module but the Logo 14 is much more bigger machine.

Off:
I visited the first FAI F3N Championship held in Germany, Munich.
The new Logo 14 was extreme powerful and the flight time was much longer than with Trex600 ( 8min vs 4-5min ). The Mikado team pilots used the "VStabi" digital flybarless rotor system. The Logo 14 was more powerful and more agile than Alan Sabo's Trex 600. The German pilots flies in extreme hardcore 3D style also but Alan was amazing....

Kovi when are your derilin main gear going to be available? I need a couple because I stripped the main gear, I had just a little too much back lash and it stripped the main gear.
