Trex 250 build videos
HEY! If I am going to do the Gaui 200 it's ONLY fair that I also do the Trex 250.
BTW I would like to say Jasmine has already done some really good videos on this heli! PLEASE watch them! In fact I will probably refer to her videos on some stuff rather than repeat the same thing. Jasmine is in my opinion a great contributor to Helifreak and knows her stuff. Jasmine... Props man! I am still skeptical how much I will like to fly a heli this size but now I will find out! In the end I am looking forward to it because anything heli is something I enjoy! BTW this stuff is SMALL! I am going to focus on things related to SMALL! So let's get on with it! Video Link ->What's in the box!! (38 Megs) OK sorry for the LONG delay! The Futaba 10C videos took preference since the radio was bought by Helifreak users! Anyway here we go! Video Link ->Head Assembly (67 Megs) OK had to do a REVIEW on this since KDE sent it to me and PERFECT timing So here is a little reviewage of the KDEDirect Trex250 bottom plate! Video Link ->KDE Direct's Trex250 Bottom Plate Review (16 Megs) Video Link ->Frame Overview and Servo Install (24 Megs) Video Link ->Servo Setup (48 Megs) Video Link ->Head and Link Setup (94 Megs) Video Link ->Tail Assembly (100 Megs) Video Link ->Tail Setup and Align GP750 Gyro setup (97 Megs) Video Link ->Motor Assembly (27 Megs) Video Link -> Electronics Install and Final Build Parts / thoughts (56 Megs) OK Thats it folks! Sorry for taking so long to get the little 250 done. Life ya know Anyway that finishes the build now all that is left is to fly it! Stay tuned for the first flight eval video. I should get it done tomorrow. OK here is my flight Eval..... I would have liked to have done more with it but the freakin wind was blowing 10MPH and sometimes more! So you get what I was capable of doing last Sunday. Video Link -> First Flight Evaluation (56 Megs) Bob

I just built one for a friend - a major warning - the ball links on the mixer & washout arms are so thin that they shear through the stem before they undo the Loctite even with VERY gentle testing with the supplied wrench - I managed to shear balls off BOTH mixer arms even forewarned - and they are next to impossible to find. I actually found that the only bolts that needed Loctiting were the pivot bolts on the arms. Similarly the self tappers into the plastic case are easy to strip thread.
Apart from that it is a nice little heli - absolutely scaled down from the bigger Trexs. I am looking forward to seeing it fly - resisted the temptation to test fly it without a decent stock of spares

Bloody hell. I'm going to have to get one of these now that Bob is doing his thing. Same thing happened with the 450 and 500.

Hehe... that is funny, I had the same issue - the LHS called me to say they were in and when I went in there I didn't see it
The tiny parts are surprisingly well-made for how small they are. Some of them are a bit tight, but there's not binding or anything, and if you give it a good Tri-flow bath, it's super smooth.

Even so, there's a lot of information here about it already - Finless makes some awesome videos, but you should be able to at least get your bird together and flying with Steph's build thread and my build videos, and all the info Bert Kammerer and a host of others have posted. So, what exactly is driving you crazy?

Finally got to actually fly this thing today, and run two packs about 4 minutes each, and I gotta say, I'm really impressed. After a few tweaks on the first run, it was really nicely dialed in - almost hands-off hovering, and it flies a lot like a 450. I'm not sure if it's just optical illusion but it seems a bit faster than the 450 though.
I had trouble with it at first because I had too much expo - so don't over-do that. I'm at 10% expo on the cyclic and none on the rudder, and that's just about how I like it. I had to put in a little forward trim, so I've still got some tweaking to do, but overall, it's super nice

Ive come to the same conclusion, flys like the 450,its faster for sure though.I figured it would be a lot twitchier than the 450,and also started with too much expo.To my surpise it was easier to control with a lot less expo than what I use on my 450 or 500 for that matter.Everytime I fly it,it gets better! |

Bob,
I am very glad to see you will work out some videos on this bird and I am SURE you will enjoy it a bunch when it is finished and after a couple of flights. This one did change my vision on helis this size. Eduardo
