Default Just Go Fly 500th motor

I got my JFG 500th yesterday and installed it my MX-450. When I put the motor in the frame the screw holes in the motor didn't line up with the holes in the frame of my heli. I was close to drilling some new holes in the frame when I took a closer look at the 2 screw holes in the motor that I wasn't going to use, and they were spaced a little different, the correct spacing for my heli. I almost screwed up being in rush to get the motor in.
The motor fit but just barely between the frame. I put a 11 tooth pinion on the motor which gives me about 2700 head speed.
I ran 2 Apogee 20c 2200mah packs around 6 min of flight time on each pack, not sure how much flight time I could get with motor the 6 mins is all I fly to take care of my lipos. There is a noticable difference in power between the JGF500th, and the motor I took out http://www.hobbypeople.net/gallery/165370.asp but not a insane difference.

Default CC35 and JGF 500th

I found out JFG recommends running the 500th with High advance timing. I changed my speed control to this setting and striped the main gear slap out on my MX450. I didn't need soft start on the low timing setting I had my speed control on, I would just ease into the throttle on idle up and then switch to 2 my second idle up at mid stick.
I replaced the main gear and flew it yesteday, it was unreal how much more power this motor had with the adv timing. Makes me wonder what the motor I took out would do with the adv timiing setting.

The difference comes when you are looking for higher power levels. The small inrunners lack the torque and overheat. The 500TH runs luke warm even with 500w peaks and 3300+ on the head.

Interesting you found such a difference due to timing. You'll like the motor. Especially when you decide to beat on it a little.
