Default ThunderPower TP-610C Discharging

Just bought a couple TP-610Cs and wanting to get all my lipos discharged to storage, and the menu won't let me change the discharge rate any higher than .5 amps. And the highest it is discharging is .3 amps. Trying to discharge to 3.8v per cell. waiting 4 hours is B.S. and I'm still over 24v.

Trying to discharge 6s 30c 2700mAh packs.

Using a Electrifly 12V 12A power supply.

Got a triton eq and the target voltages for discharge are alittle off. Simple charger if all you want to do is charge to 100%.

Bought these thinking I would have a more flexible charger/discharge capabilities.

I might as well just hover my 500 for 3 or 4 minutes in the garage to store my batteries.

Do I need a better power supply?

Should I take these back and get a couple 1010Cs?

No charger can discharge packs quickly by itself. Some allow for external loads but then you have to have an external load. Also the actual voltage you discharge to is not important. Anywhere from 3.7 to 4.0 seems adequate. Honestly I find that using a charger to discharge, a waste of time. I would use the heli if possible and if not, then something like a automotive headlight (or 2 in series for 6s packs) to be an easy and quick way to discharge packs.

Of course the fact that the 601C chargers are not exactly the greatest chargers around is also at play. Not that the 1010C is any better, lacking an internal balancer. If you really want a good charger then look at a Bantam, Hyperion or iCharger.

Some of my flying buddies use Hyperion and some Thunder power, and now I'm needing to charge alot more so I bought the 610s. Just asking, what would you buy (model # please) if you were in the market?

Will be charging 2s, 3s and 6s for now.

Thanks
-Steve

I would recommend the Bantam BC6HP and/or BC8HP. The HP series is the new High Power unit. 250 and 280 watts respectively. As for discharging, get yourself a CBA III.

Do you think my power supply will run that charger with the 2 THP610s at the same time?Or maybe look for a ac/dc charger. My generator puts out 20amps.
