Default 450 with fu-bar

in a word, WOW!

when I saw the post about these I looked them up and had to try one
alot of people know I do reviews of cheap products so those that dont have the big dollars can get something decent without wasting money on junk

I was lucky enough to still get in on the first batch sell for 50.00

It flies just like my name brand (300.00) fbl controller
sets up exactly the same way
and performs flawlessly
if it had bluetooth support it would be perfect

I have just a little bit of tweaking to do on the tail because i'm using HS HV servos

For those of us who have only tried one FBL (in my case, ZYX), can you explain how it's better than a basic unit? I don't doubt that it is, just curious in what ways.

I wish I had the budget for HeliCommand (or could at least justify it for my own personal 450), but if I were getting a different unit, the iKon would be on my short list. A FBL-integrated governor (proactive) would be really nice, and any form of self-levelling-rescue beats what I have now.

If HC had a governor, and maybe vibe-analysis, that would be awesome. The price tag puts it at the very top-of-the-line range. It would just be nice if it offered *everything* (I don't need GPS, myself).

Well the fu-bar is a v-bar clone, so much so you use the v-bar software to program it.
it flies just like my real v-bars and the gov is exactly the same, everyone knows how good v-bar's gov is

the 2 controller that are on the top of my list are v-bar and ikon
ikon has only been 2nd to vbar for very little reasons
1 - ikon only has 3 banks to switch to where v-bar has 4 (most people only use 3)
2 - ikon can fly as well as v-bar if you use the advanced menus and tweak the settings
Ikons gov works good. (takes a little longer to get the tuned in feel)

v-bar wins out because with just a few sliders the software calculates the rest for you.
it wont take a year or so and you'll probably see a big change in the ikon software

but now there is fu-bar, 60.00 and your flying a vbar with pro software
bank switching, gov, paddle sim, vib anylizer. Its all there
The only thing its missing is the port to plug the bluetooth into

I recommend the zyx-s to everyone on a budget and even recommend it over the 3gx unit. But going forward fu-bar will be the only unit I recommend to anyone needing to save a few dollars
Dont misunderstand me. I'm not getting rid of my v-bars and replacing them with fu-bars
but the fu-bar on my 450 isnt coming off until something new comes out for me to test

Whoah... I knew very little about FU-Bar, and admittedly not that much about VBar (other than people love it, etc).

But this would be one of the first things to make me really contemplate swapping out my ZYX. I do realize that would mean supporting a clone, which is not ideal (the whole topic is iffy here, and, Will, I will stop further discussion if you ask. It's your house, and your rules, I'm just glad you let us stay in it).

I'd forgotten VBar had a gov, and had also forgotten about the vibe analysis. One unit (Skookum?) does a plot showing vibe amplitude vs frequency, the VBar doesn't break it down like that, does it? I remember reading that maybe Skookum had accelerometers, while maybe VBar kind of "inferred" vibes based on gyro feedback?

Arghhh, man these posts just kill me, this bang for the buck craze is hard to pass on
I've always flown Beastx gyro ( besides a short period with ALZRC) but always been curious to try better gyros, not Vbar that much because of prohibitive prices, but the Brain/ikon, known for offering a Vbar-like experience.
Now with this kind of low-cost performance, it's a different story

I got the bluetooth module working last night so now theres nothing missing from the fu-bar at all
now I can use my droid app and tweak it at while i'm out flying
as well as monitor vibrations in flight (real time)

the usb connector is a mini-b connector
I took a old toy camera usb cable (mini-b) and cut the end off
then I soldered the bluetooth connector to it
works like a dream
you could do it with the cable that comes with it and put a connector on it so you can switch from the usb cable to the bluetooth connector
