Why would anyone disassemble a good heli to sell the main board?

Becuase you can make more money by parting them out.

I've seen some mentions of using a MultiWii flight controller as a helicopter FBL controller.

Has anyone tried using something like the AfroMini (mini size Nano32, 32bit port of MultiWii) and maybe a Rx31 SumPPM receiver as a total replacement for the HH 3 in 1?

I'm very tempted to give it a try... The stock board is a POS and crazy overpriced. :-P

So far nothing but good experiences with the 180.

Nanos however...
I've had the opposite experience. I smashed the living crap out of my Nano learning to fly heli's and never lost a board (although I did need to repair the battery lead). My MCPX BL on the other hand is on it's 3rd board and hasn't seen anything like the abuse my poor nano has taken.

Does anyone know if this guy is still reflowing 3 in 1 boards? From what ive heard, his reflow soldering is top notch! Ive messaged him but have not heard back. Most of the problems with the 3 in 1 come from the HH soldering design/material of the nCPx boards. From what I've read, a reflow soldering of the board can solve some/most of the most common non-crash related to design. If you fat finger the stick, driving the bird into the chandelier... you may be on your own there lol....

Kevin has sold Mega's Micros to Rudy Collazo...and Rudy is deployed outside the country for an undetermined time estimated at a couple months, during which time Kevin will take on 10 board repairs per week

Turnaround is estimated at 2-3 weeks, and is run exclusively thru the website

E-mail megasmicros@gmail.com and be patient

The stock boards suck cause people crash them so much.

But the main reason it because the solder in the boards do not have Pb.
So when a crash comes, that solder breaks (it looks by eye good, but inside in microscopic eyes they are a swiss cheese hanging...and not like a rock where if was a solder with pb).

That's the only reason, and going "green" means that...it can't handle the abuse!

I hear this a lot...and yet, other boards don't have nearly as high a failure rate from crashing (for example, MCPX).

Pretty much nothing is made with lead anymore, with good reason.

So we gave up mercury based thermometers, and are using CFL lamps for lighting to save the planet? I'm sorry, what was that "good" reason again? Whatever, please pass the bowl of paint chips!

Well shit. I was pretty excited for for a new nano but after reading all these posts about board failures, I don't feel like getting it anymore. I've been thinking of the nano ever since I started the hobby again and now, I think ill wait till they release a more modern cp micro. Any recommendations from any other brands?

Get one anyway. You won't find a better micro in its class. Board failures are a pain but even losing a dozen in 3 years is only 4 a year. Fly over grass and there is a chance you'll never have a failure. Bottom line is the Nano is well worth it.
