It's easy to operate, the main thing is understanding the software in able to go from design to a real part. I knew the software before I got the machine, so it was just a matter of getting everything interfacing together. I'm a pretty techy dude, so such things tend to be pretty easy for me anyways, but anyone can do it if they have the desire to learn it.

I didnt get pics taken, I told a friend I'd make him some tiny 1mm thick control horns for his 3mm foamie. I didn't drill the holes because he didn't know the pushrod wire diameter.

This is the enclosure that will be on the gimbal behind the camera. It houses the battery for the Picloc and the Vid Tx. The switches are for Picloc Power and Tx Power. The display reads current voltage. I will be running both the video downlink and the Picloc on 2-cell LiFe.

The enclosure just keeps everything tidy and looking professional.

Bad luck nominal voltage!

your battery pac locations (on the boom), is this to balance the heli because you'll be using a large frame camera?

Really nice job! What's the advantage of LiFe vs. LiPo for the video electronics? Do you get more service life from them?

The main thing is that it's a voltage that both the gimbal electronics and the video tx are happy with. I can run the video tx on 3 cell lipo but not the servos. I could also run two separate batteries, a 3 cell and a 2 cell but the LiFe lets me run everything on one. Plus the Hobbico LiFe packs have multiple leads so they lend themselves well to outputting to multiple components.

very cool rig, I like how you have it all layed out to be fully functional, yet still in a 800 chassis. Very nice work...

I finished with the gimbal electronics box. I added a slide switch for the voltage display so it doesn't have to be on all the time, just when I want to monitor it. I also mounted the video TX. Signal coverage will shift a little when the platform tilts, but I think it will be OK considering the excellent coverage of the circular polarized antenna. I have to wait until I finalize my camera choice before I can settle on mounting the FPV cam in the viewfinder.

I wanted to run my servo back on the tail boom with a short linkage, but also run a tail fin. But the servo at the distance I had it mounted blocked the fin from mounting. I also don't like the boom mount servo tray. The loops are plastic, and can be stripped out and its too flexible for my liking.

I made a new fin today that includes the servo mount, as well as uses two more mounting points.

Is it common to use another camera on the viewfinder of a digital SLR for FPV? Can't you just take a feed off of the camera itself without using another camera?

I also got another Skookum power distribution bus. I use them on all my big helis.
