Extra washers needed for L600 Feathering Shaft
Hi Fellow Logo flyers
I've been tracking a low frequency vibration on my Vbar anaylsys for a few weeks now. Finally think I've found the problem... When I squeeze the main grips in towards each-other (i.e. compress the dampeners) there is approx. 1mm slop. I've disassembled the main grips - and checked with the instructions... Vbar head & dampeners Black washer Bearing Grip Brass washer Bearing Inner race (marked X) ball race Out Race Washer 4mm hex screw I was using 3 x rubber washers as dampeners, but now changed to 1 rubber washer + 1 green dampener (twice width of original). Still - 1mm slop. Centering the grips, spinning the blades up I get no vibes - BUT - if I squeeze the grips and offset them (so 1mm gap on one side of Vbar head) then huge vibes comes back. SO in desperation... I had some spare 0.5mm washers from the main shaft kit, and these fit perfectly behind the brass washers in the grip... Vbar head Black washer Bearing Grip Stainless 0.5mm washer from main shaft. Brass washer Bearing Inner race (marked X) ball race Out Race Washer 4mm hex screw No there is no slop before or after compression. Spool up is near perfect vibes at 90%. Reason I was chasing this vibe was extreme/raised vibe errors on Vbar Log. Now gone. So - is the 1mm slop ok in the feathering shaft? Will the additional washers cause any problems? Note: Both blade grips spin freely. Tail Vibe Solved ps - I also solved a tail vibe problem. The manual shows 5min epoxy to glue the tail bearings to the carbon fibre (and I've read many don't do this). My 600-3D (2nd+ hand) had 0.5mm? slop (front/back) and this was causing also a big vibe. Replaced with a new carbon fibre tail holder which was super tight fit for bearing and tail vibes completely gone. Any feedback appreciated.

I changed the extra hard standard dampeners to some medium dampeners (for an experiment a while ago) and thy came with thinker black washers (the one between the dampeners and the bearing).
The medium dampeners must have been ever so slightly thinner requiring the thicker washer. If youve got play id add washers at that point. |
