Default My 3G is half updated..

Has anyone received a bad USB link yet besides me

I found one in stock and figured it would be a great time to try the update since there is a long weekend coming up. Perfect right!!

My night started out loading the software on a couple month old Win 7/64 bit laptop and everything went fine. Right up until I plugged the USB link in. "One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned. For assistance with solving this problem click this message". Ok.. fine, let's click this message and see.

"Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)"

Hmmm... possibly Win 7 or the laptop? No problem, let me try my Win xp sp3 work laptop. Loaded the software, plugged it in and appeared to recognize the device. Ok, cool... let's update. Plug in sensor, update sensor, go on to next step, plug in the unit and nothing. Ok, let's start over and try it again. USB device not recognized again.

My sister happened to be visiting. Hey sis, can I borrow your laptop (Win7 64 laptop)? Software installs fine but same thing... device not recognized.

Tried the F8 on boot to disable the driver sig and that has no different effect.

Pretty sure the USB link is bad at this point unless anyone has some other ideas?
I have tried reinstalling many times on 3 machines at this point with the same results. The green light does show up on the USB link when plugged in and turns red when pressed. So it appears normal in that sense. (with or without the extension cable)

I should have left it alone dammit!

Note: Here is the MS KB on the error code. Is there a way to install the driver without reinstalling the software each time?

Recommended resolution

One of the drivers controlling the device notified the operating system that the device failed in some manner.

If you have already run the Troubleshooting Wizard, you might want to check the hardware documentation for more information about diagnosing the problem.

I never had that problem but I DO KNOW that you have a snowballs chance in hell on getting any help or support whatsoever out of Align. I sent them four emails begging for help and never heard a peep out of them! I would send it back and get another one. Updating mine to version 2.1 only caused problems anyhow so you may be better off just leaving it alone for now.

I hear ya... I am 100% sure the USB link/stick is just bad.

The problem is now the sensor is updated to v 2.1 and the unit is still on V1

So, ya... cant fly it like that. There goes my weekend of flying the 90!!

Oh that does suck!! So it worked long enough to update the sensor and then quit?

Have you tried holding down the button while you plug it in to the usb port? Maybe it will reset it or something. Cant hurt to try.

Are you sure the cable for the system has a good connection? I had a bad y adapter. Also, are you disconnecting the sensor when updating the box?

I have tried everything except for smashing it with a hammer. All boxed up and ready to go back......

3 different computers yield the same results.

I wanted to post an update really quick.

The new 3G link arrived and worked perfectly. The other unit was in fact defective.
Let the tweaking begin..
