Default Curiosity: anybody with a mars/poseidon going flybarless ?

All in the subject: anybody with a FBL mars/poseidon ?
Anybody with ideas about how to do it ?

I'm no expert at all, but looking at the head, FBL seems (but surely is not) as simple as:

- remove the flybar and its links (to the swash and to the blade holdres)
- remove the mixing arm from the blade holders
- link the swash directly to the blade holders (maybe you need to tweak the distance between the link ball and the blade axis)

MaX.

Yes, you're correct. Of course, you'll prob need the V-stabis system or skookum...
I think though, that you might need some sort of guides for the links from the swash to the blade grips so you don't get any phasing problems.
What you could do, is bend two small pieces of sheet metal at 90 degrees, notch one end for use as a guide for the link, and the adjacent end should be drilled. Leave the flybar globe in about halfway up, and use two bolts long enough to fasten the sheet metal bits to the globe.

I am changing my Protos 500 to a mini -vbar blueline version. It has an AC-3X on it now and I plan to use it to change my Gazaur Mars Pro to flybarless as well. Will post how I do it here as soon as I start the conversion.......

Yeah it will be cool but don't expect results soon. It shouldn't be that difficult but both my Logo and Protos need a lot of work over the next weeks. After I finish that I will start the Gazaur conversion. I will use an YGE 100ESC which is quite heavy but has a great governor. Then I will strip most of the head and will probably use a Gaui swash follower......

With a good plan half of the jobb is done.
Im playing with plans for my Poseidon..... 6s setup i have all the stuff to do it right here in my Outrage G5.That one is a "downer" so far... 2-3 bad behaviours on that one!
Gazaur(Poseidon for the 6s) on the other hand has all advantages and screams for a good 6s setup!!
My Mars and Poseidon are so stable that i can keep them in hoover and soon do some simple 3d while i eat my lunch AND make a phone call.....and then just a micro push on the throtle and KABOOM.... NASA!!
I can not imagine that there exist a greater flyer than the Mars and Poseidon !!!

Sorry to disappoint you in that area but yes, there are much beter flyers out there! As soon as you are getting more into inverted, high speed flying, etc. you will get orientation issues with a 450/480 size bird. From that moment on a larger bird is much better, like a Logo....

You are right! I should have been more exactly.. best heli amongst the 450s!
Anyway....i think i have started too late with this that someone catch me inverted and im too old and too deep into flyfishing for trout.
But im happy that i can find greate pleasure in doing nice 8s, mountain steady hoover and simple short autos.
I like the process of building, mounting electronics,do nice wiring, find a nice canopy aso.
After the 6s project im 99% sure that i will make one of my Gazaurs fbl!
That would realy be something...... Gazaur Poseidon 480 6s AND fbl!!!!!!

But first of all i hope this thread can be keept alive!!

Hello,

does anybody tried Gazaur woodies on FBL setup? How is the CG?
I wish to give 340's a try on my Rave/Beastx, I run 3300 HS.
What do you think about this idea? Radix became too heavy on my budget...

Thanks.

There are also cheaper 340mm and 360mm carbs on ebay!!

the Gazaur 480 Rotor-machine is undoubtedly THE MOST STABLE mini size R/C Heli in the WORLD.

Looks realy nice and clean, please come back with some info on how it fly now.
Gazaur is the most stable heli i have tried so it will probably fly very comfortable as fbl.

I only finalised the mechanics (which was really easy to do) and still have to install the AC-3X. That might take another month or so as I am very busy at the moment.......

Hello Dutchy,

Have you installed and tested the electronics with you flybarless setup? What are the results? We are eagerly waiting what you come up with!
