Default Weather Dynamics when simming

I have to be honest I have not really used wind options much when simming until recently. In an effort to improve my minimal skills I have started flying a 450 size with a medium head speed while trying out the wind conditions in the sim.

I am wondering how much you guys use wind and how you set it up for best advantage?
Do you use it everytime you sim?
Do you use when learning new moves or only when flying what you know?
Do you regularly change wind and turbulence settings or does your sim have a random weather generator?
Do you never use it?

Thoughts and suggestions for best practices are very welcome.

I use it most of the time to keep me honest.

About 5m/s and moderate turbulence.

Prevents any falling into a habit of just "moving the sticks". You really need to fly every maneuver.

Not necessarily a best practice, just what I use.

Thats a good point.
I think initially when learning I was better off not using it. While I am still pretty crap I know I passed the point where I should have started using it consistently a long time ago.
I kind of assumed that guys would turn it off to learn new moves though. And or mix it up a bit.

Really when learning new, if you have all orientations 100%, then wind should make little difference. You FLY any now move the same way you would IRL.

I'd like to add wind to RF 7.5 during hover training while in the circle . It's that possible? I hit the ~ key but couldn't figure out the commands for wind? Any ideas?

Yes.

The same way you can change the model using console (`) "loadAircraft", you can add wind with "windSpeed", "windDirection" and "windTurbulence".

These must be done AFTER hover training is started, as all settings before start of training are lost.

Console (`) "help" will give a full list of commands.

The wind at our local field is usually blowing at about 10 mph, and gusting 12-15 mph. So I generally have my simulators set to those parameters. The only time I turn the wind off, is when I am trying to perfect a new trick. I turn the wind off while I`m learning the stick movements. Once I learn the trick, I then turn it back on so I can practice it in a real...ish situation before I try it with my helicopters.
