Need help with clutch liner replacment raptor 60
Hey guys, i bought a raptor 60 to learn to fly and have been picking it up slowly and my trainer at the field tells me i must start learning my own repairs so need some help. went to start it yesterday and the starter coupling was free spinning so decided to strip her myself and i found clutch broken and liner gone and starter shaft worn away from trying to start it. So is there anything eles i need check and how do i put in new clutch liner?? Any help would be great

I would highly recommend looking at the bearings that hold the clutch bell / starter shaft.
You have to disassemble the bearing block. Inspect the pinion gear and its nut - the nut holds the pinion to the bearing inside the block and spins loose - you can't see it until you take the block out and open it. You can also inspect the 1-way bearing (OWB) on the clutch - it has a tendency to wear out over time. If the starter shaft is still okay, you can change the 6mm hex nut starter adapter - but you may not be able to find the older style that fits the smaller diameter starter shaft. If possible, you can change to the newer starter shaft and hex nut. Do you have the manual for the Raptor 60 / 90? I can send it to you. It has all the parts listed with the TT part numbers and diagrams. |

Ya i do have the manual for it but thaks anyway and i had ordered those bearings aswell just in case and had planned to check them, so now wondering is it just apoxy i must use to sitck in the clutch liner or what eles do people use???

This is how I did it on my Raptor 50 worked fine. First I cleared the old liner I used denatured alcohol and made sure there was a smooth clean surface to stick to. Then I took a clutch and wrapped it with tape. Then I put the liner in the clutch bell to gage the perfect size and cut it. I used JB weld inside the clutch bell and put the wrapped clutch in it to hold the liner in place. After the JB weld had dried I pulled the clutch out of the bell and caefully cut off the excess liner.

Oh right that sounds easy enough, thanks for that so my next question is whin I'm putting it all back together how do I check the gear mesh and line it all up???

I use JB Weld for the clutch liner - but that might be overkill.
I use a piece of heavy paper to set the gear mesh. Set the gear mesh tight, then feed a piece of paper through the teeth. With the paper in the mesh, tighten up the starter shaft block. BTW: This is the BEST time to calculate your gear ratio. This is critical to the engine you plan to use. Example: If you are using an OS motor, its peak usable RPM is 16,000 (redline). The best RPM to run it at is around 15,500. Lets say you want 1900 rotor RPM (this is high by the way - I run 1700 "normal" and 1800 for stunt w/ 690 blades). 15500 / 1900 = 8.16 <- this is the gear ratio to shoot for. Using the mix of stock pinions and main gears, then closest you are going to get is 11 tooth pinion and 91 tooth main (the white gear) = 8.27 With this combination, the OS engine will be running at 15,718RPM with a 1900 head speed. If you want to run at 1800, the engine is at 14,890 - still okay |

Well i'd like to say thanks for all the help cas i have my 60 up in the air again and getting in some well awaited flying again and i'm happy i did my first repair. i had it checked and test flown at my local club field just to be safe. So thanks for all the help and this is a very good and helpfull site with lots of good people on it
