Dear Santa
Dear Santa
I have been a very good boy this year. That being said I would like a pair of KDS Innova 550's which would make great traveling companions for my pair of Innova 700's I would also like some really hot bikini babes which could be serious blingage for said Innova's and would also distract from the fact that I am an average pilot. They would be so distracted by the bodacious blingage with the helis that are not flying that they would not notice when I dumb thumb something..... P.S. could you also please drop off enough spares to cover ummm say 6 crashes Sincerely

I've been begging Santa to bring me a KDS 550 V2 for Christmas as well. Let's see what happens.
(however since I am one of those guys who love "plan B Scenarios": I have ordered one separately - just to be on the safe side - If I end up with two for christmas now, I will have the spares for the 1st crash) I've been flying the HH-Blade Helis up to now - so this is going to be my first "real" RC-helicopter. Can't wait to have it in my hobby room and start building it.

I think that you will find that it goes together really quickly due to its low parts count. Which is also nice in the event of a crash

You seem to be a PRO for the big helis Maybe I can "cheat" a bit off your broad knowledge base if I get stuck during the assembly ?! Assuming that you will also get a KDS 550 (for cristmas - or just for fun) - would you care to list which components "Santa" is planning to put in ? I have ordered the following: - KDS 550 V2 basic combo with KDS 1200Kv Motor and KDS 120A ESC - MTTEC KETO HV BEC - cyclic servos: Savöx SC-1258 TG - tail servo: Savöx SH-1290 MG - Spektrum AR7200BX (RX and FBL System) - Spektrum DSMX satellite I will fly it with my Spektrum DX8. Do you by any chance already have experience with the new DFC Rotorhead (I think KDS calls it "TDT head", if I'm not mistaken) Thanks and have a great day Ruediger

@ ghostflyer1: Thanks - I guess I will need all the help I can get. BTW I found out that mine came with both heads. It seems to be one of the early V2 versions of the bird, that still has all the V1 parts (except for the flybar and related stuff) plus the V2 parts as an upgrade.
So I have the burden of the choice and have decided to go with the V1 head for starters (I am not a PRO-Pilot by any means yet) and keep the V2 head in the "backburner" @ pong: Yes the TDT ist the new version. It is simmilar to the design of the new DFC heads from Align. From all I read on the internet, I am still uncertain if this DFC technology is really the smartest move. Obviously it makes the head brutally hard and stiff, which is clearly an advantage for doing the real 3D stuff. However from a pure logical perspective, where does the movement of the blades go if the upper link of the linkage to the swash is stiff now? I mean even the hardes head dampening will not prevent an up or down movement of the blade to 100% - right? I think the fact that some major manufacturers such as Mikado and Blade (with their new 550X) do not offer this technology might mean that it is either not yet mature or that it is an overall failure in design. Both reasons do not motivate me to use this technology in my heli. On top I am still a beginner pilot (just started this year) so I can not yet really make use of the advantages of this technology. Will keep my fingers crossed that you will get yours as soon as possible. If the internet is not an option for you, where do you get your parts from then?

getting parts online is easy, because the box is just small and taxes won't kill me... but if i ship 2 helis in... with that huge box. i'll surely get taxed big time. or sometimes... it is easier to buy when i am on vacation
shipping rates is another consideration. when i placed the order for the 700 and the 600, shipping rate calculator showed usd300 and it is not overnight nor 1 week or something. it's a lot longer than that |

300US$ for shipping via ocean vessel ist brutal - now I understand what you mean. Don't you have hobby shops somewhere on the Phillippines that store helis and parts ?

my main problem bringing in a kit is the tax... if they get you... you are dead... i personally know someone who got taxed the same amount as the price of a kit... effectively doubling it... so when i buy a kit... either it is the ones that are here... or i bring it in when i travel.

Sounds like a "rule of thumb" case to me.
Or as we say here in Germany - it depends on the "nose factor". (if the customs officer does not like your "nose" your import duty will be higher)
