Default My new Logo 480 Xxtreme!

Very excited! Just picked up a Logo 480 Xxtreme from another member here in FL. What a beautiful machine!

Very well designed, the one I have has the Spedix CNC tail case and CNC tail grips, it also came with 3 sets of Edge 473's and the stretch kit to run 500mm blades along with a set of 500mm blades. It also has the thicker main gear and pinion!

Can't wait to try this heli out! I have everything ready to go except my Spirit FBL is being shipped! Going to tear it down and rebuild it, not because it isn't well built, but, I just prefer to build my own helis.

Very pleased to join the Mikado Club! I wish I never wasted time with other manufacturers, the Mikado's are beautiful! Except the darn canopies are a cool million.

Ok now some questions.

With the thicker main gear and pinion, what are they from? Is it the 550sx main gear and pinion?

Also, what is the main pinion tooth count and what headspeeds do you guys find best for this heli?

Finally, Based on the gearing ratio of this heli, it seems it is better suited for a 1200kv motor. How come it comes with a 1070kv motor?

the 23t pinion is the highest pinion possible, seems like you would be better off with a bit higher Kv to have more flexibility of HS?

If it's a thicker gear, I believe it would have to be the mod 1 600sx gear. I think all the others are the same thickness.

I agree, 1200 would be about right. There is a 1450kv 4015 but that's about to high for my liking. You can switch to the .7 mod gear and run a 19t pinion.

Hey jmann, keep in mind this heli has very low disc loading, I fly mine w/ stock motor and yge from combo at 90% throttle with 3300mA packs 5 minutes. you may be surprised what It'll do at lower headspeeds.

Awesome, I plan to run it on 3300's as well since my G570 and eventually 600sx run on them too.

I am planning to rewind the motor to get some more power and better efficiency out of it. I can keep it stock Kv with 12 turns and Delta termination, however, if I do a YY wind it should get me around 1260kv so I may go that route.

The 1070kv really needs the 23t pinion, with 1200kv you can utilize the lower tooth count pinions for the same HS, or, go crazy with a higher HS.

I've been running mine on the 22t pinion and don't usually use bank 3. My head speed I usually fly at is 2100.

I was thinking about higher kv and smaller pinion as well. My only concern is more power with less teeth to mesh may lead to stripping gears. We can always use .7 mod gears though.

Can't wait to get mine in the air! Got to see one of the mikado guys smack the 480 around very hard. It was soo smooth and quiet compared to all the other Helis at OHB, very impressive to watch!

Alright, it's finally ready for the maiden tomorrow!

Final question, is there any issues with static buildup in the tail with this heli? I don't see anyone grounding it, is there continuity already?

It should have come with a grounding kit...

Its referenced in section 12 of the manual - "Wiring RC Components + Battery Mounting"

I bought it second hand and went through to inspect everything, but, there is no grounding kit on it.

I guess I will be making one myself.

Thanks for the info!

Wow, I'm inpressed! No clue what my HS was, I just ran it at 100% throttle out since the gov wasn't set up correct. What a beautifuly flying machine though! Soo smooth, precise, and floaty!

I'm very impressed

That was probably running high....
Get it set-up and do the math, wait until you fly it at 19 and 21.....
I have mine set-up at 1900, 2100, and 2300. Most time is spent at 21, its a graceful machine.

Sure is! I'm very inpressed how well it felt without any tuning at all, I just used my settings from my G570 in the spirit and it was just about perfectly locked in.

I'll work on getting the HS right and use vibe analysis to figure out what they are. I ran one flight with the gov on at a pretty low HS and flew for over 7 min on 1 3300! It was pretty low HS though.

Also, the guy I bought it from made a battery tray for this heli that is pure genius. Battery changes are super simple. Just slide the tray in, Velcro down, and fly!

I put a 23t pinion in mine and flew it last weekend at 2000, 2200, 2400 and it was great. I could get 6 to 7 minutes at 2000 on 3300mah packs and 2400 rpm was fast and fun. It really is my favorite. At low head speeds, it floats slow and smooth through maneuvers like the bigger heli's.

Yup,

I now own 5 different heli's of all different makes and this is by far my favorite. Number 2 is the X3 and number 3 the G600.

How does the 480 compare to the 600sx? I think my next heli and the last one that I want in my dream fleet is the 600sx and sell off the Atom and 6HVU.

My 480 and 600 fly similar, both very smooth. I just need more room for the 600 and don't get to big fields often. The 600 is also way more intimidating to me. The 480 feels locked in but the 600 feels a step past locked in.
