darmie,

I went to the thread that you linked to on Crack Roll. That head is indeed set up backwards (trailing edge control).

Ragge1's head (in the photograph above) is set up correctly.

Default 500esp + Microbeast + tracx

I received one of these heads late last week and have installed it on my 500esp with a Beastx. Have not flown it yet, just finished the set up tonight, and want to post a couple thoughts. First, the head is really very nice quality, smooth as silk, zero slop, all good. In setting up the beastx I wanted to note that if you have the balls on the servo arms set up towards the end (4th hole, past 90 deg), you need to move them in to a perfect 90 (second hole). This enables you in step J to teach the beast 6 degrees of cyclic pitch on this head within the parameters required to optimize the servos for fbl (blue light). I had to go back and change it up when I realized that the stock FB head has the balls out there -- not optimal for beastx FBL +tracx. Anyways, I did not see this posted anywhere, and it might save someone having to redo that portion of the setup. Can't wait to fly it later this week.

Thanks all for the information about this head. It was a no brain er when I was in the market for a fbl head for the 500. Price wise, it was going to be a big bill anyway.

... and here's my picture. Not that exciting but my contribution to the thread...

Thanks, Clem. I figured maybe someone might want a closer look at the head. Silky smooth and tracking is right on the money.

Cool!

The video was very clear and made it easy to see the detail on the head.

I am looking forward to seeing flight video, sir!

I'm in the middle of upgrading my 500esp to FBL with the same head and microbeast.

Question: I have two main shafts (trex 500 FB & FL)...I bought the FL because it's a couple mm shorter, thought it may look smoother. Which one should i use?

Use the shorter one if you have the links that will work.

Excil3, Use the standard FB mainshaft.

Clem, I flew 12 packs through it yesterday, but I was alone so no video. Next time I am out w the guys I'll get some video. Its a new heli, flies like its on rails. Really big improvement. At one point I rolled it to an inverted tail in hover and it was pretty much hands off with minor pitch inputs..it was kind of like the heli was suspended by a pole and string. Pretty cool. Nothing like the way it used to fly. I need to work on dialing the settings in.

Santini,

OUTSTANDING SIR!

I look forward to the video!

Just out of curiosity, have you flown a 6HV yet? Same tight, quick, smooth feeling on the cyclic you are experiencing with your modified Trex 500, but with sort of unbelievable power to weight and very low disc loading. I would also in your comparison of it and the Logo 600.

I would be interested in your opinion of it, sir.

Hi Clem,
I've never flown the 6HV, but when I was looking to move up to a 600, it was down to the Logo600 and 6HV. I was predisposed to Logos because I fly with five guys that are all heavy Logo fans. It was like, I watch 5 Logos fly, then I fly my 500esp, no kidding. Eventually, I caved but I built the L600 on 12S though! Next time around, might be the 7HV on vbar, that's v interesting. I was psyched when I learned about the tracx head for the 500esp, having already looked at compass.

Hey Ari (exil3), based on our pms, here is the doc on ICE programming you might find useful. I can't recollect where the post was, or who wrote it, but I saved it down on my drive.

This is me doing some inverted circuits, TracX fbl head, Beastx V2.

Ive since updated to V3, which I like better. Realtive to V3, tail precomp is a terrific enhancent. HS here was 2600, but I since moved to 2725 on V3, and its really nice --tail is totally locked in. Anyway, most of this footage was unusable because of windnoise (even with wind cut) and camera shake, but the inverted circuits seem ok. It was indeed windy and I have to say, the machine was v stable, more less just cut through it. Three of us from the M-freaks crew are using this head, and all of us love it. One of the guys changed over from mikado fbl conversion and likes it alot better.

Santini inverted secaucus 9 3 11 (4 min 5 sec)
