Beam quality- is it good?
I'm thinking of getting Beam 450 SE kit. Comes with Scorpion 2221-8 motor.
I was pondering about a Trex 450 or a Blade 450x. Once I looked into it, the 450x has crap servos and the motor needs to be superglued to it bearings or it falls apart. Even then the motor might only last 30 flights. Sorry Blade, but I had hoped the 450x would be a step up from the Nano (needing a new motor every thirty flights!) So, I read a thread about the best built 450s, and Beam's name came up. Better rated than Align apparently. I'll be coming from a Nano cpx, so will be my first bigger heli. I've had it up to here with Blade quality - am I in for a better experience with the Beam?, I sure hope so. I don't see any sticky on 'how to get the helicopter not to self destruct out of the box', so that's a good sign. |

Hi
The Beam 450SE is a great 450 size model. - Very fast, but also very stable. It comes with both DFC, and normal FBL style head. You will not have any problems putting it together, beacuse its a very nice, and easy build, even though itīs your first īrealī helicopter Best regards |

Must Agree
I too took a VERY long time before I decided on a BEAM E4.
The parts just "fit" properly. Smooth and quiet in the air. For the 450 size, I haven't found one that I would say had a higher quality. Be aware that occasionally, you will need to wait for parts. They aren't as plentiful here as in Korea. Enjoy! |

It's beautifully engineered and built, goes together like a dream, flies smooth and quiet. You'll find nothing to upgrade; everything's just first class. I don't know of a 450 kit that's better. You'll be adding your own electronics, so how they work is up to you. My motor's the same as yours. I've had good luck with a Phoenix Ice 50 ESC, Spektrum AR7200 gyro, JR3500 tail servo, and Hitec HS-5065MG cyclic servos. Metal gears.
I have the Beam E4, not the SE, although I put an SE tail on it. The E4 has carbon tabs on the blade grips that break away in a crash, so I've never lost a servo. |
