Yup just playing a little "what if".

But indeed I had some wild ideas of building my own 250 size Protos with all the new tech available (3D printer/router), but unfortunately there is a difference between Photoshop and CAD/CAM. So many projects, so little time ...

I´m patient, maybe after the dust from the 700/800 launch settled MSH willl have the time/capacaties to look into further expanding their business.

I think that one could construct a business case out of every size heli (250, 550 whatever). MSH is in the comfortable situation that they have unique features on their products which set them apart from the competition regardless of size.

Looking at the competition I think it´s more fierce in the 550 size. 250/300 there only is Align, Blade and Gaui, and neither of which is very compelling. I firmly believe a 250 Protos would walk over them.

Hope you guys don´t mind my little PS play, by now you should know me

I went on the hunt for an SJM180 last night, just because I want a different, small heli.
I'd be all over a micro Protos like a fat kid on cake.

Was looking at the LA Heli Ricco for a while, but it´s a bit "old" and looks very fragile.

Thanks for the heads up on the SJM, heli seems to be all boom, no frame? Very interesting.

As would I.

I got a Rex 250 instead. Align did a pretty good job but I can see it's going to be hard on QC for any company making stuff this small. You should see how tiny the tail is. I can see many many tail grip bearings replaced here.

Honestly, I think MSH going this small would be a mistake. They are not a big outfit. They really do not need a potential disaster. QC really could kill something like this way easy.

I had a Trex 250. Typical Align quality, QC issues and although not badly engineered, it's not particularly well engineered either.
Not trying to open a can of worms and get all the Align fanboys all bent out of shape, but they are certainly the Hyundai of helicopters and this is echoed in their design ethos and how hard their machines can be to work on.

Yep, basically built around the boom. I had an SJM360 which was a beautifully engineered machine. Unfortunately they went out of production a number of years ago.

Must look at the sjm again then. I thought I saw HK sell them at one point.

StilI don't think micros this size will be good for MSH unless they really revolutionize this size range with some quantum leap design and keep QC up given the tiny-ness.

It's not inconceivable to produce a very high quality heli in this size range, it's just producing it within a price point to allow it to sell in high enough quantities to be financially viable that's the issue.
