Default Trex 700 Electric conversions

It was suggested to me to make a sticky for 700 Electric conversions.

So here you all go! Post away!

My Xera (4030-3Y 470) performed great in my 700E at Birmingham this weekend.
I let a much better 3D pilot fly it and he got 6:30 of hard 3D on it using excatly 4200ma on my 12S 5000 packs. Soon as he landed we felt the motor and batteries and they were just luke warm. Sorry no temp guage but I never had to take my hand off the motor for being hot.

I've gone 10 min at 1800 rotor rpm with my old man sport flying no problem. My buddy flew 7:30 min at 1800 and the 6:30 at 1925 rpm

164/16T for 10.25 to 1 gearing.

More pics in gallery.

Next to the 700N

i am also running the 16t pinion on my 700e and getting 6:00 of flight time with 12s 5000mah. i am running the CC110HV...is that what you have on yours? what is your throttle curve set at in st2 and is there any bogging? i would love to squeeze out another minute out of mine.

Thanks Bob.

I have a Build thread about my 12S setup located here - https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=113403

ATM im running 14 tooth pinion with 80 and 100 flat curves for Idle 1 and 2.
Getting 4:15 mins at 100 flat stick banging and could squeeze around 7+ mins out of 80 flat with sports flying.

PS : Mine doesnt bog even on 80% flat fixed end points mode no Gov.

I am currently also converting it to Flybarless with 3DX and SK360 setup so power and flight times should improve yet again.
Will add to my build thread soon when my head arrives from the USA.

Here is a picture as it is now and i am just making up a new Bracket to mount the SK module.

Boost, My buddy "Compuserve" on Runryder is running the Scorpion 560 on a 15 tooth pinion and he can get 8 min flights at 1850 rotor rpm. He has a HV85 using the 2.0 software and the Gov High mode.

Getting the speed % we just go in the transmitter and run up the curve in normal mode while someone tach the heli at flat pitch or slightly negative pitch to load the head. When it gets to what we want we make note of the throttle settings for each rotor speed we want and use that setting for the idle ups and normal mode. I've done this by myself and it's not hard.

Here's how it's suppose to be done but my numbers were off a little to the speeds I wanted so I used the above method for actual settings.

to me 700E's always look more slugish than 700N's am I crazy?

I was watching nolan manley's 700E be flown by Tristan at Bham and it looked way slower than jared granzow's nitro 700 and my own nitro 700.

Sluggish? Watch Tim Jones' E700 that I filmed at the Las Vegas FF. It's an animal!

that thing does have a ton of power, but all the 700N's I have seen can do all the same things, plus they have smoke

Tristan flew mine at 1800 rotor rpm. I doubt that Jarod was flying his at that.
Tristan did say that my pitch seemed a little low. I'm at 11 deg. Remember I'm a sport flyer and rather get 8 to 10 min of mild 3D rather than 4 to 5 min of me scaring myself.

Not to mention I don't have a sponsor for batteries or kits. My stuff has to last. Batteries last longer if your not cooking them.

yep for 1800rpm it was doing pretty good.

I think jared is flying around 1920 with the YS, I am flying 1950 on the os HZ.

I just love the smoke and noise , you can really tell what the pilot is doing by the noise

Yeah, that true. That's why I have the nitro too. But if I had to live with just one it would be the electric for my style of flying.
You may have seen Tristans 1st flight at 1800, his 2nd flight was more at 1925. The heli is 15 oz heavyer than the nitro.

Default Nitro Pro?

Hey, anybody notice that every 700 aftermarket canopy says "Nitro Pro"? Seems like the 700 electric conversion market is gaining steam and we need a generic 700 canopy. What'dja think?

That canopy in my first pic is the stock canopy that came with the heli's. All four of the 700's that I've built have had those canopies.

Does anybody have a 700E on 15S setup?
I have a 600ESP on 10S and potentially would look into 3x5S 3300mah for a 700E conversion. Any motor and ESC could handle this voltage?

Here's my setup:

700E with HeliDirect conversion kit
Motor: Scorpion 4035-560 with 14T pinion
ESC: CC110HV
Receiver Spektrum 6200
Cyclic Servos 9452s
Logictec 6100T and servo combo

Batteries Zippy-H 20-30c 6s 5000MAH x 2 (12S)
Radix 690s
Stock Paddles
Stock Tail blades

I can do most of my 3D in Idle1 but straight 100% throttle curve is wicked nasty! I haven't tach'd it but it's 1900+ in idle 2. I can go 6 minutes of moderate 3D and put back about 3600MAmps back in the packs.

What is the weight of your heli?

plus, regarding maximum RPM , are my calculations correct?

12S x 3.7v = 44.4v
44.4v x 560kv = 24,864rpm/v
24.864 x (14T / 164T) = 2122rpm
2122rpm x 0.8 (efficiency) = 1698rpm (approx 1700rpm)

if so, isn't that alittle low for 3D ..etc ?

Thanks

The formulae:
motor kV * 3,7V * S battery * T (Motor Pinion) / T (Main Drive Gear) * Efficiency coefficient (0.9) = RPM
So,
1/ 560 Kv x 3,7 V x 12S x 0.9 = 22377,6 rpm

The Rotor Head speed of T-Rex 700 is designed for 1950
The Main Drive Gear is 164T

2/ For 1950:
22377,6 rpm / 1950 = 11,475692307692307692307692307692 (ratio of reduction)
164T / 11,475692307692307692307692307692 = 14,29 T = ~14T (Motor pinion)

It looks OK.
The question: what RPMs are for 3D?

yea , I have no idea why I chose 0.8 as the efficiency coefficient! I'm sure i read it somewhere.. its does make the difference by 2 tooth.

Thanks for the info, i believe as a 90 size 1800 to 1950 is more than enough for 3D

Anyone have any experience of running the 4035-560 with a CC 85HV on 12s? I already have one and would like to avoid the extra expense of going to the 110. I've seen some graphs showing generally low current, but spikes to the 90's. Any opinions? Thanks,

Al.
