I've seen Kosmik's destroyed because they were too firmly attached in a crash. The eyelets tear off. So I can actually understand why they are doing this.

They also saved their Kosmik in the crashes they had so definitely the design works

My Kosmik after a vertical crash at 200 km/h. The back side is severely twisted, electronics exploded, see the casing on the right side is out of wack. This was attached at the front of a Banshee, not hard fixed, only with zip ties. My point is if you crash hard enough there's not much to do about damage control.

No matter how it is mounted, it can survive or not, personally I think Jan is just saving weight as that would be a reasonable design starting point, real aircraft are not designed to survive crashes, rather to withstand flight loads and be as light as possible.

Had a lengthly talk in German with Jan at well at IRCHA. I'm stoked about everything but the fixed skid design.
I told him to pleeease overthink it and do the same skids as on the TDR-I. Isn't this exactly what makes a TDR when you look at it.

If you think the same please write Jan a short email.
A TDR should look like one, period!

Ohh and of course there is the explosion-in-the-air-issue but I'm sure Jan will figure it out

Sorry, I should have re-phrased that.....BS = I can't believe they would "hang two".
I apologize.

Just can't see hanging the Kos with two...

After reading the speculation of why the TDS has a vibration resonance at ~2600 RPM...whatever it is...ya can't hang with 2....imho.

Everything else looks great....

I agree, new fixed skids are not best. These are too high and does not looks like Jans design. I expected that fixed skids will be same as retractable, but without retractable mechanism . I really like that retractable skids design. I think that tripod design will be very stable and very compact (great for transport) .

If the TDR-II uses a double tail fin because it is resting on that fin like a tripod.

Doesn't the fixed gear need to reach the same height?

The current TDR has the tail fin in the air and not resting on the ground.

Holy crap! That is a 1K loss. Ouch, painful just to look at.

OP, thanks for sharing the pics. I stopped by Jan's booth at IRCHA and checked everything out, hard to find everything cool that was in there as the booth was full of very cool helis.

Will,
Definitely more than just $1K, I believe that the Banshee was a "very-limited" production-run of only 50-kits.
IIRC they will make replacement-pieces for all those that made the list for the original-kits.

Hopefully marco will rebuild but I don't know the extent-of the damage on the rest-of the Heli, don't know if I could even look at the pic.'s.

Info here (if interested) ;

Following the majority of wires it looks like it could be on top of the tail servo, my best guess.

At full steam 3000 rpm id imagine flight time are just
Over 1 min!

I think ill get the trainer it looks better and be nearly as fast! Putt putt at 1800rpm wind here to 2300 for 3d then 3000rpm to make your ears bleed.
I need one
