Default No collective in set-up mode

In the process of setting up a second SK540. It is connected identically like the first, but I do not have collective control during set-up. The percentage of collective under "inputs from receiver" stays at 3% regardless of stick position. As soon as I unplug the USB and the unit initilizes I have control. I have checked my connections several times and they are correct. Did a search but did not find this particular issue. I'm hoping someone has run across this and found the solution or has an idea that I missed. Thanks, HAV

=] try changing the usb cable, and or make sure it is firmly inserted into the 540, these ports are quite stiff....

Did you connect the servos before starting the initial config wizard?

Thanks for your responses...
Georgi, I tried the other USB cable with the same results,
Jamesppp; I did have the servos connected, but did not add power to the system until step 20 in the wizard.
Also noted that the percentages for the other controls displayed in "input from receiver" will only reach 80% at full stick deflection, not 100. I am using the same model in my Tx as the other unit which is working fine. HAV

Reset stick scaling in utility tab w all endpoints at 100/100 and a linear 0 to 100 throttle curve.

Ok, I reset the stick scaling and tried to set stick limits. I get the message that "set stick limits failed". The values still only reach 80% which does fall between the 65-125% values listed in the message. For fun I set my Tx endpoints to 140 and tried to set stick limits again and got the "failed" message again, but the values now read 100%, all except for collective. I still have no collective until I unplug the USB and once the unit resets, then I do. Any further thoughts? HAV

I could not get through step 21-22. I kept getting the "stick limit failed" msg. The input window for collective does not turn green or pink or show any percentage change as it should. It stays on 3% and the swash does not move. I have cyclic and tail rotor control and the windows for these turn green and pink and the percentages change (although only to 80%). I am using Futaba gear. Thanks, HAV

Go back to step 19 , Im not exactly sure where the messages are but one message says if your servos bind you may need to disconnect battery power, another says if you are using gear other than JR, Spek, Graupneretc you may have to unplug your servos...I have Futaba and I had to do the center all stics(step 20 i think then unplug the servos and do step 21. That let me get thru and past that step
The\n I did have to set my endpoints to 103-105 to get 100 on the Skookum set up software

I was ignoring the 2 messages and spent 2 hours getting thru Step 21...You may be able to disc the battery to the RX and get thru but will prob have to do it w/ servos unplugged

Ok, I'll give that a shot and get back with ya. This unit is acting much differently than the first 540 I set-up. No issues with that one at all. Same equipment, same set-up process...strange. Thanks, HAV

Unplugged the servos with the same results, cannot get past extreme stick throw setting. I continue to get the stick limit failed msg, which I know is due to the collective not being seen. The collective input window does not turn green or pink and the percentage does not increase or decrease like the cyclic and TR windows do. In a nutshell, collective has never functioned on this unit with the USB cable connected, but works fine after the cable is disconnected and the unit initilizes. Should of left the old SK360 in this one! Thanks for your continued thoughts....HAV

=] HAV, I would start afresh with a new Tx model, ie, don't copy settings from a previous setup, do it from scratch,

if it still persists the unit may be at fault, but eliminate this option first would be my approach....

Similar to the situation I had the other day on a 720 except I had collective showing but pink was high stick and green low which is backwards
As soon as step 21 worked it corrected that
Yours never showed collective in 'inputs from rx'

Georgi, yes, I have tried a new TX model with the parameters reset and even a different Tx, starting from the beginning of the wizard, all producing the same results. The collective will just not function at all with the cable connected. Tried both USB cables on the first unit and both work fine, but the problem persists on this unit with both cables.
Jamesepp, that is correct. There has never been an indication whatsoever in color or percentage in the collective "input from rx" window. I believe it might be time to go to the Skookum ER and let them have a look see....what do you gents think? HAV

Gyro serial #1566 Firmware Rev. 3.10
Went over everything one more time and I don't believe that I'm missing something...collective will just not work with the cable connected.
Would you advise I contact Skookum through their website first, or just send the unit back with a note? Thanks for your help guys, really appreciate it. HAV

Thumbs up

Received a replacement unit today which works fine, so I'm assuming the problem I was experiencing was a faulty unit. I'm back in the saddle :] HAV
