It flies!
Had my newly built Radikal G20 in the air for the first time today for all of about 5 minutes. Flies nice and smooth, have a little tuning to do yet, but not much. Got the head trimmed out pretty good, need to adjust the tail for a good hold in a hover in normal mode yet. Running a head speed of 1600 with the wood 640's is nice and smooth, yet still nimble enough for my flying.
I can't run much more than +/-12 degrees of pitch with 6 degrees of cyclic throw. More than that on either at max forward and left or right cyclic, the bellcranks will hit the tail drive gear. But for my flying style, I really don't need more than that. Can't wait for warmer weather to get out and get a few good flights in on it. |

What head speeds are you wanting to fly with & with what blades? I ask, because the stock Zenoah will be hard pressed pull 12 degrees of collective at the higher head speeds. I think you may be better served using less collective and more cyclic for higher head speeds. Of note is that at any rotor speed you will be able to pull more pitch with 620 blades then with 640 blades. Of course, because of the higher disc loading with the 620 blades, the autorotation performance will not be as good. |

I am not intending to run anything over 1700, but more than likely 1600 will be what I run at. The only curve I have set to the max 12 is thr hold, and only on the top. I am running +/- 9 using 640mm century woodys for now. I have a few sets of the century 640 woodys, and a set of 690 C/F blades my buddy gave me he had no need for.
I was just checking them out, and they are balanced damn near perfect. Mounting them up, they clear the tail blades, but just barely. I can't make the 690's and the tail blades, but the in flight stress is different. That said, since I am more of a smooth and easy flyer, would I be safe to give them a try for a nice easy flight? |
