Default Should my ICE 80hv, bought on Sep/2010, be returned ?

Hi

Does the 2011-03 advisory refer to all HV, regardless of when they were bought, or a specific part number ? I have an ICE bought from Amain Sep 2010, is this included ?

Thanks

If the label looks like either of these, then no.

But I just realized that you said 2010. Then CC recommends it.

Then again, if you've been using it a ton already without flames, then flip a coin.

Here is the direct link for cc. http://www.castlecreations.com/suppo...ydraicehv.html

No, none of them. Actually it is the oldest HV, the first that came out. I think it should go in, though it works fine. It doesn't have many flights though.

Maybe as an EU customer, I have a better luck on getting it back promptly, in terms that most people using CC escs, must be in US.

Thanks

I had an ICE80HV that I got in July 2010, installed and calibrated by S. Rogers of Castle at IRCHA that year and have been flying it flawlessly since. Talked to him about it at the Orlando Blowout in December and he recommended to send it in anyway. That way you have the latest and greatest good to go. I actually had another ICE80HV that I had sent in in September that I got back in November, so I did take it out and send it in. Why not, it's free? I installed the new ICE280HV and have not had any issues. I actually used the settings from the old one once I installed it in the model. All I had to do was calibrate the throttle.

From most of the posts I ve read, the margin of getting it back, is 3 months, so someone should settle his mind for that and go ahead. The trouble is, that its a long time for no fly and we must consider a new buy. Unfortunate is, that most of us will consider another brand for that time.

i would say if this esc work for you now, just fly it. U have a 50-50 chance that it will smoke. Even if you send it in, the chance is still 50-50. Let you decide.

I had an older one also, worked perfect. Myself I regret sending it in as I wasnt prepared to go 4 months and counting without a heli and I new it was fine. If you dont mind going without it for 4-5 months and understand you will not hear from them till it is done, and they will not respond to any inquiries then send it in. If I had to do it over I wouldnt have sent mine in....that being said...I had no issues with it for probably 50+ flights. Many of the new ones are flaming too so doesnt really matter....my opinion only, choose wisely

I was in the same situation. An old HV80 that had many flights. It was the bolded text below that convinced me to send it in. I'm glad I did because the governer on the new one is working better than the old one. Same firmware, same settings, holds better with no chirping.

Send it in! I thought I was good, but on spool-up for flight# 262, it went poof. Better be safe then sorry, I got lucky and escaped with 0 collateral damage. Its winter time, just send it in.... I was waiting on an excuse, and I got mine in the form of fire LOL.

Winter time, is flying season for us. Not too much cold and good to go winds for several months. Sumner is crazy. 7+ winds and min 33 degrees celsious. Batteries get puffed all the time
