Outrage 550
Ok guys During my current visit to asia to see outrage's new CF blade manufacturing plant and work with the manufacture of some of our parts I had a chance to assemble one of the first Outrage 550 helis so.... I figured I would share a small pic of an up and coming project one of many that is to come
Note this is just the first prototype some of the plastics are just test parts I have a complete built heli but saving that pic for later hope to test fly this week before I head home to the states... Enjoy!

interesting.......some thoughts
Pinch rollers for the belt can be a real static builder, I'm still smarting a bit from the T-Rex 500 static problems and the suceptibility of the spektrum radio to being knocked out. Metal canopy posts, wish these were plastic on the outrage G5 as well as this new one, metal posts tend to break frames when you crash as they catch in the dirt and act as a great leverage point, plastic posts just snap and I'd much rather replace posts than frames. 3 bearing blocks ..... nice. Looks like a mikado style stick pack configuration. |

What kind of frame material is that.. looks too smooth for G10, FG or CF, could it be anodized aluminum, or another new spaceage polymer? Sure is pretty, but too far advanced, too much, too soon for my park flying thumbs. Am perfectly content to remain with the G5/Trex for now.. ".. a man’s got to know his limitations".
I surely do envy you kick ass 3D guys though.. sounds like you're going to have another play-toy in your sandbox soon enough. HS Last edited by hsimm; 06-29-2008 at 02:17 PM.. |

Charley, that looks so sweeeeeeet. Cant wait to test it.
This heli should run on 6 cells petty well, and probably 8 for extreme power. The power of those motor's is usualle pretty incredible, and i would imagine a high capacity 6s pack would fly it well for about 5 minutes. Have to wait and see. So excited about this one. Looks good enough to eat. Team Outrage. Craig

550s I've run in the past used the Z-Power Z30A. On 6S you could run 3200-3700 packs without becoming over weighty, which would give about 5 mins of 3D.

Man that looks sweet. I was wondering if I was going to bother with anything bigger than the 450 class, electric wise. Looks like I might just have to now. Good timing too, as I've been thinking a little about the T-Rex 500 recently. Based on my experience so far with the G5 and comparing it to my 450SEv1, I'd say the Outrage 550 is probably gearing up to kick some 500 butt.
I can't wait for more info and pics on this baby!

if it's a 550 then it's not really in the same class as the 500, which is 425mm blades not 550mm blades.

If this heli flies anything like the G5 that I saw fly at Birmingham I will probably be adding it to my fleet... Love the way the motor is mounted.
