Default NEW FRAME ORDERED

Wind was really blowing the other day, decided to try a few loops (even though the SR tail motor really doesn't like loops). Everything went fine, even a little inverted flying.

Tried the same on a nice calm day yesterday, bad choice, didn't make the loop, new frame ordered. It's a lot easier to put in a new frame on a Blade 600X then it is for the SR. Ordered a new frame for the 600X but that's another story.

Did you order the plastic frame or the carbon fiber one?

i never thought about it, but i guess the 230s frame might work with this thing since a lot of the things are the same.....as far as that one CF frame they used to make is that the one you were asking the guy about? Those are pretty rare items...

Yea, they are. I have one of the carbon fiber frames on one of my 2 SR's. I also have a new in the package plastic SR frame. Really thinking about using it.

Compairing the 2 frames I noticed some differences that are slight in the stock frames of the SR and 230s.
The noticeable difference is the canopy mounts on the 230 frame sit forward of the SR's and the area behind where the servo's are stacked is a bit taller, but basically it seems to be the same frame.

Ordered the original plastic one, it's still in the package, I'm up in Iowa for a few more weeks, but will get back to Florida soon and put my SR back in flyiing shape. I miss my warm up flyer.

Did bring the Blade 400, 5003D, 600X, an Align 500 flybar, a Radian sailplane (they are for relaxing after the heli's) and my Simple Copter "Tri-copter". One of the hardest thing to learn on the Tri-copter is "not to pull back the throttle when doing a loop", I've planted it several times, at least all it breaks usually is the 3 props and a few pieces of wood and a few pull-ties.

You must be snow birding! I need to do something, this Texas heat can be unbearable! I haven't even thought about flying anything here for a few weeks. It's just not a very good feeling sweating like a pig out there at the field to fly.

Other than the canopy mounting posts on the 230S frame, the SR guide on the 230S frame will be farther away from the swashplate and might not reach with the SR swash.

Yeah when I started looking real close at it there are a few subtle differences in the 2 frames.

Yeah, just a few minor differences. I just now saw my previous post and that was supposed to say the AR guide was a bit different. That damn spell check makes you look stupid sometimes. I personally know the differences between the frames cause when my brother in law crashed my 230S I tried to use my extra SR frame for my 230S while I was waiting for a new frame and realized the subtle differences.

I wonder if any of these conversion attempts have played out using the 230s tail motors? From what I understand a separate ESC is needed, but those who have tried have said nothing more about it.

Nighttrain06, I wondered that also. But couldn't one just turn up the gyro gain until it gave enough power, I haven't seen one in person yet, I'm the only heli flyer where I fly, makes for a lot of trial's and error's.

I've heard the BL conversion does work, and worked great on the SR, but this was from a fellow who actually found one that was converted by the guy who owned a hobby shop. He subsequently crashed the heli, gave up and bought a 230s.
By the way the BL converted SR that he purchased was one that used parts (separate ESC different BL motor) and was before the 230s came out.
I've yet to see an SR BL tail conversion using any of the 230s parts though.
The ones who say they have done it have used 2 esc's and a different motor.
Myself I have given up on doing anything other than stock. The belt conversion I have to say does make the SR a pretty well behaved heli...but to do that can be pricey. The BL conversion seems probable to do, but those who have done it are hard to find to get info from.
I'll just fly mine for what they are, keep a stock of parts, enjoy it when it decides to fly right, fix it when it don't lol.
