Default futaba 401 with belt cp 35mhz???

Hi.

I have a belt cp with 35mhz controller and bought a futaba 401 gyro.

I connected the cabels as shown in manual,

I cant get the servo to move in either way of the gyro switch.

In one way the light is off
In the other it flashes then, constant light. when i turn the rudder stig nothing happens but the gyro dubble flashes.

If memory serves my right the 401 does not work with the stock tx, if you are using a stock tx, but I know someony who tried the same will jump in shortly

+1 Ber60. The GY401 needs remote gain adjustment which you cannot do with the stock tx. It would be purse chance if you got it to working with the gyro switch as you cannot control what amount of gain it gives.

That's right, it doesn't really work with the stock transmitter but I remember someone posted instructions on how to make it at least initialize...

Ah, here it is.

How to turn on gy401 with E-sky's stock tx and servo (1 min 30 sec)

Always be aware from dealers if they do not fly themselfs, I hope you can get a refund for that gyro if you are not considering buying a computer TX

Oh and welcome to the forum

What gyro would you recomend insted, ive been told that the 401 is the one and only.

What Gyro should i go for?

upgrade to a 2.4 ghz system feels alot of work and money when the only thing i want to change is the gyro.

...because you will need it for any of the better gyros.

I would hold on to that GY401, and upgrade the radio if you can afford it - it's just a matter of time, so you might as well stop torturing yourself with the stock Esky Tx. You can get a DX6i and AR6100 from Al's Hobbies for £92.49 right now... I believe that's about half price compared to your local hobby shop

you would have to get a gyro with a gain adjustment pot on the gyro itself like the eflite g90, all of the nice gyros that work great need a computer tx, you are very limited on your gyro choice with that stock tx. There is so much more you can do with your heli using a computer tx, you should look into getting one you wont regret it.

Welcome to the best forum ever!
Any Gyro where the gain can be adjusted on the gyro itself will work with the stock Tx. You need to unplug the signal wire from CH5 and you will have a HH only gyro.(permanent HH mode) The stock Tx(EK2-0406A) has a built in non adjustable gain value(very low value like 20%) and can be used with the signal wire pluged into CH5 and you will have two modes but both are crappy. By unpluging the signal wire from CH 5 all the adjustments come from the gyro itself gain, limit, or whatever adjustments the gyro itself may have!

The new stock Tx for the Belt V2(EK2-0406F) has a gain adjustment knob instead of the Pitch Trim knob. I beleive that only the gain can be adjusted with the signal wire plugged into CH5 and not any other gyro functions that it may have on the gyro itself.(but I 'm still unsure)

I have used the stock Tx since May of this year. I just like doing things the hard way!
A comp. Tx is the way to go with out a doubt. TBH with you the stock Tx is a pain in the butt! As it says in my sig "Master of the stock Tx" it's true but somthing to be proud of not so sure? It's nice to use my skills to help noobies but I've been through hell dealing with glitches and other limitations of the stock Tx. If you plan on staying in this hobby you really owe yourself a "Good Tx" and save that gyro!

The Telebee is a fairly good and cheap gyro that works well on the stock belt

Thank you for all good answers. And i agree, this i a very good forum.

I can buy a better used dx6 for 40$ from a friend.
how do i choose a suiteble 2.4ghz reciver?

You are right in what you say, i only feel i could have bought a more expensive heli with all this included + better overal quality. for the same price as this with upgrade costs.

but i am very pleased with the belt cp.

What moore fun can i do with the dx6 than get the gyro to work.?
Is it hard to get the radio programed? can i download a default file.?

Thanks again for good answers, And excuse my english...

Just a quickie. Is he selling you a DX6 or a DX6i. I believe there is a significant difference. I found this on another forum:

In a nutshell:

DX6:

DSM1 technology- parkflyer only
limited to AR6000 receiver only
unfriendly programming- 3 character model names and menu titles, etc.

DX6i:

DSM2 tech- full range, approved for use in all air models
compatible with all Spektrum receivers
larger display, plain English text, scroll wheel cursor control

I think people on here are generally referring to the DX6i.

As for your English, no need to apologise, it is perfectly understandable, so to me that rates as excellent, when it is not your first language.

Thanks for the info.

Its probably a regular DX6, but i look into that.
The DX6i looks like a better choice.

When i comes to 2.4ghz receivers what should i look for, 6 channels, anything else?

The TX is the brain of the helicopter.

The stock transmitter (TX) has very limited settings compared to a computer one.

The DX6I has LOADS of settings which will change the performance of the heli drematically.

You can change throttle and pitch curve (More precisley) which is a must for when your a bit more advanced.

You have sub-trim which is also a must these days because they don't bother getting servos mechanically centre anymore.

You have Expo, which sofens the controls (In the centre) to the way you like them. But the edges of the sticks still give you full servo throw and ful speed. So it still performs to it's max performance.

You have gyro gain settings for HH gyros which is amazing because you can setup your gyro really fast and you get a super stable heli with a little play with the gain.

Swash mix: You can set pitch for aileron and elevator seperatly. This also comes in very handy when you are more advanced.

Revo mix: You can use this to get a normal rate mode gyro to TRY and compensate for a sudden increase of headspeed etc but it's not very good. You need all settings at defualt with this if you have a HH mode gyro because it can interfere with the settings on it.

You can store up to 10 models on it, this means that if you have 5 planes and 5 helis. You choose the heli/plane you want to fly on the transmitter and you just fly it! So this can save you up to 10 other transmitters.

All those features make the heli much better. There is also another page of settings for basic setup but I wont go through those. Stuf like reversing servos etc. And also, it has a timer so you can time your flights which is awsome.

This is a DX6I I just explained. A DX6 might not have as many features. I would go for a DX6I. You can get one for £100 with a AR6200 reciever. I think this is around $140.

+however many times. DX6i is the way to go. Man what a new world it opens up. The stock TX will hold you back. I've got the AR6200 Dual reciever, but it came with mine. I payed $165.00usd for the TX and the RX together on ebay. Keep the gyro and get a good TX

Well any computer TX will help you set up the heli better - period!! Whether it's a Futaba or Spektrum, 6,7 channel, or 2.4GHz. You will get a better feel for flying the heli. There are so many set up options which initially seem confusing, but eventually you get to know what they can do for you. And I speak from experience having never had a computer TX before.
