Default What lipos are you running/planning to run?

G'day guys!!

Well my 700 is due to be delivered on Monday and I still need to order some lipo's.....

Being in Australia there are limited options locally ..... basically standard Turnigy's are all that are kept in the oz warehouse.

I am thinking of trying gens ace (ordering from hobbypartz) ...... but the big question is which gens ace pack will do the job??

5000mah, 5300?? 30C or 60C???

On the hobbypartz website the 5300 60C packs are listed as lighter (by a few grams) than the 5000's.......

The 5300 30C packs are a whopping 50grams lighter than the 5000 60C packs....... can anyone verify these weights are correct??

If in fact the 5300 30C packs are only 752grms ea then I was thinking they would work great in the 700 ....... is there any physical size limit to consider with the 'saddle' tray in the 700??

I am still in the big air/light 3D stage of flying so I dont think I 'need' 60C packs....... surely the 30C be sufficient.

Please share your battery choice for you 700 xxtreme.......

Thanks for the help.

Benny.

I dont think hobbypartz will ship to you with the lipo ban so you'll have to look elsewhere, but for this machine id go highest c you can find as the 4525 motor will make quick work of lesser c, espescially since this is a heavy machine, amp draw increases. If you gov14s you can get away with lower c as amp draw is lower

Ahggh..... your right..... just read their shipping policy closely.....

Their cart was allowing me to proceed to checkout and get shipping quotes.

Well that limits me to Turnigy, Scorpion TP or Hyperion.

A TP 65c 6s 5000 is $270Aus for one!!!! I was planning on setting up two flight packs.... $1000+ just didn't seem worth it!!!

I might be forced to go with Turnigy........

You can order lipos from fastlad, deduct 20% for vat, they have very good and affordable courier service, optipower seems good bang for buck and off course hyperion and tp, but tbh if you dont buy local the crash replacement warantees are not worth much so maybe take a chance with optipower 50 c. Turnigy, zippy all those hobbyking lipos wont be good for more than 50 flights, possibly lot less considering weight and motor of the 700. They are looking into gensace, i really hope they start carrying them soon as bang for buck it seems to be no 1

I have been doing some online window shopping in the Aussie stores ...... no one has any significant stock!!!

Pulse Ultra's can be bought here but no 5000mah in stock .... any good??

DBY lipo's can be had...... I havnt heard much about them though...... any thoughts??

Hacker top fuel are around but as pricey as TP

Then there is revolectrix ...... they seem to be a no nonsense but quality pack..... shipping them from Singa to Australia works out to be pretty cheap!! Has anyone got experience with the revo lipo's??

I am considering buying one set of TP's and one of a cheaper brand and comparing them over 100cycles or so......

Cheers

Benny.

From all indications pulse ultra are made by acepow, also gensace they also have the metal plate so imop they should be as good.

Stolla is correct. Remember however regular Pulse packs are NOT relabeled Gens Ace.

You could also buy packs from Revoletrix - http://www.store.revolectrix.com/Pro...e=21%2C37%2C37

They ship to Aus via DHL with really good rates and I rate the packs higher than Gens Ace and Pulse, everyone who I have spoken to who uses them rates them.

From your fleet on 4 s to rate them higher than gace etc is a long shot i reckon but if anyone has real comparitive data and experience with these on 12 and 14 s lets hear about it. For me lipo only gets a rating worth anything past 75 cycles on high load setups, i.e scorpion le motors hard 3 d or speedflying. Reason being there are some guys here flying nice big sky on 3 year old zippys they are just as good....or bad as the day they bought them, i get only 30 flights on them so all in the eye of the beholder. Gensace has built a formidable reputation, i will soon know as i have only tp 65c packs so will form a good comparison

After doing some research on local Aussie boards I have decided to go with some revolectrix 60C 6S 5000's

I got 4 of them to start with.......

They seem to get a good rap from the local flyers.

When some pulse ultra's come back in stock locally I might pick up a set of them as well so I can do my own 'testing'/comparison.

I am not wasting my money on the TP's though, allegedly the revo packs are assembled from the same cells as TP anyway........

Just beware with these packs. I have had 3 stick packs failed on me after 5 flights. One of the cell totally dropped dead.

I have had a few cycles through my Revolectrix 60C 6s 5000's now, approx. 7 flights on each pack so far. I am still taking it easy only discharging to 3.85 volts and charging at 1C for now.

The IR's according to my PL8 are all good!! Brand new they were all around 2moHm,s.

Now they are sitting between 1.2 and 1.4 on all 4 packs.

The packs all seem to balance very well and are getting better with more cycles. A few more gentle cycles and I will start hitting them with 4C charge rates and a bit more flight time.

I am not a hardcore 3d'er yet, I have been setting my timer for 5 minutes and flying some big air maneuvers, basic flips, and some big full collective rainbows etc. Mostly at a head speed of 1900 and occasionally using 2000rpm.

After this type of flight the packs are cool to touch, I will be starting to increase my timer and think that 7minute flight times are looking likely with my flying style.

At the moment 5minutes of my flying is using 2000 - 2200mah.

Hope this helps

PS:

I love how the 700 flies! Even for a relative beginner like me flying for 3 months it is so easy to fly, its stability and visibility in the sky makes it more relaxing to fly than my Trex 500!!

Correction, I have just done a few more flights at 6 minutes 'trying' to do some ticktocs, big rainbows and big air loops, stalls and Cubans.

Half the time at 2000rpm, this brings my packs down warm to touch (it is 34deg C here at the moment), and voltages of 3.75 per cell...... Seems like 7 minutes will be too much of a stretch.

I would say as I improve flight times of 5:30 will be the norm......
