Default Dielectric grease ?

I recently parallel charged 5 batteries and all 5 batteries had cell 6 overcharged to 4.22 V.

I had someone suggest that I take the main balance cable out of the PL8 and re-insert it a couple times to remove oxidation. I decided to do that to the connector at the MPA board as well and to my balance cable extenders.

In addition I added some NyloGel 760G to all connectors to help prevent oxidation in the future.

Does that seem like a good course of action or is there a better method for maintaining a solid connection?

It's always a good idea...

Just a tiny dab for each terminal connector - I use it on all my EC5s, much improved "action"

I'm glad this has worked for others.

I would double check that. It could be that 4 packs had cell 6 over charged and one pack had cell 6 under charged.

Also be sure you are in the correct wiring mode for you balance board. For most parallel boards it should be set to JST-XH.

I verified all 5 batteries were high on cell 6 twice.
I was specifically looking for a battery that was dragging the average voltage down and couldn't find one. They were all uniformly at the same high voltage on cell 6.

The wiring mode is correct and has been for a couple years.

My guess is that there was a bad connection causing cell 6 to read low and the PL8 was trying to compensate as well as it could.

I've reseated everything a few times to try to rub any oxidation off and then I added the anti-corrosive nylogel 960 and pushed them back together. It appears to be working fine now.

I'm not blaming the PL8's, but I have had them out in my garage a lot this winter with my Charging tower project and they probably saw more temperature swings and humidity this winter than ever before when they are normally in my office. So there may have been more oxidation on the connectors then there normally is.

I've been using Deoxit for the contacts. Dielectric grease prevents corrosion, but is non-conductive.

BTW so far the results are noticeably better. Hopefully they will stay like this without additional maintenance.

This morning I parallel charged by 2 x 12S Revo 4400 packs or 4 x 6S packs in parallel and they ended up at 0.05, 0.06, 0.08, 0.09 min-max diff between cells. These packs are 2 years old too, so I guess the REVO packs are holding up pretty well too
