ok here is my friend flyin his T-REX 450 SE. this is his first rex and this is his 3rd flight. hes still getting used to it.

Here is my video of me attempting my very first 3d, this is a Trex SE with HS65MG's and 401 gyro. At this point I have had about 20 total flights, and have been flying for about 3 months...

The end has a crazy close call and a crazy save... no more inverted hover for me for a while...

Fantastic! Way to stay with it RiXt3r. (I guess you didn't have a choice did you? :wink: ) You're flying great for only doing it for 3 months/20flights!

Here is me flying the sev2 for the first time in a big field. This heli gets small really fast ! I have about 15 flight sessions (4 battery packs each) so far.

Here are a couple of videos of me flying this weekend with my friends. The Trex main gear is stripping as it flies because I placed my pinion too far from the main gear. I fixed the problem and boy does it fly with more stability and power now!

1. Trex 450 SE Black
2. Align 35A ESC
3. 430L Motor
4. TP 2100 LiPo
5. 3x HS65MG (Metal Gear Servos)
6. GY401 with S9650 Digital Servo


I will get some nicer shots of my better trimmed, fixed gear, and at a nicer location and time!

WOA! First man your tails are buzzing like BANSHIES!!!! Copter, your is worse than Ricks but man you guys cant hear that? I see it looks like Rick is running the yellow plastic blades? If you guys are running the plastic blades because your throwing the fiber ones then you gotta fix whatever is casuing the tail to buzz! Are you running the slow down gears?

As for you rolls... "It's all collective management".... You need to time the positive to negative and back to postive better with the roll and not induce so much negative. Ricks bird rolls faster so he is getting away with it better but both you guys are giving too much negative and holding the negative too long. Anyway not being critical this is intended to give feedback as to what to work on.

The way to do axial is to time the collective.
1) First pump a tiny bit of positive in just before rolling which will put some up energy in to the heli and keep it from dropping so fast as you transition.
2) As your rolling the bird you start the transition from positive to negative so when the bird is on it's side you should be a 0 pitch. If you have any pitch at this point it will push the heli right (still on positive) or left (you have negative).
3) When now moving to upside from sideways you should be moving into negative and just enough negative so the heli does not climb.
4) Now when going back to the heli being on it's side thje transition is just like #2.
5) Obviously your now right side up so back to where you started.

Yes Bob, we're running the plastic tail blades. The LHS doesn't always stock the black fiber ones. We haven't yet tried the slow down gears.....too much RPM on the tail, huh? I've got more headspeed than Rick, so maybe mine's wailing louder? We've gone through these heli's and can't find what's causing the tail vibes. We've replaced the tail drive gears, tail shaft and bearings, checked belt tension. Sometimes we get main shafts that aren't 100% straight and that transmits some vibration throughout the heli....

Rick has his swash settings to about 80%, and I was only at 50% in that video. I've bumped it up to 70% since and it rolls faster, but is a bit twichier so I'll have to get used to it. We're teaching each other, so progress is slow....

For the "twitchies" with higher cyclic rates, put in a little expo and that will make it less twitchy around center stick.

Based on what you replaced sound like it might be int he tail hub/grips then... Some of those hubs can be drilled off center or crooked which puts the tail blades out of track or not balanced. Have you tried balancing the entire tail hub and grips with blades on?

then the screw fell out of the plastic swash arm. no real damage and i dont fly near my car anymore.

Yep, you did great! You may want to push that baby a bit farther away from your body when you are hovering and point the tail a bit away you. Gitting hit by blades and flying tail parts is pretty nasty!

Yes, I would recommend a little more space to give you more time to react and correct. Try to get the helicopter out of the ground-effect zone, it will make hovering easier. I would say between 3 and 5 feet is good.

Also, do you have any exponential dialed in on your transmitter? Perhaps adding some will calm down some of the movement around center stick for you and help smooth things out a little.

after watching bobs video on throttle/pitch curves i was able to fine tune and have better success at hovering 2 battery charges later and it is getting better.

i have not messed with my expo due to my ignorance of my radio. optic 6
