I really think a video is needed that explains how to get gov throttle min set close enough to where a castle esc will arm and gov throttle max close enough where only fine tuning will be needed. Kind of belongs between castle video and gov programming video.

Scenario:
User has plugged esc into the aux port since it said bec on the diagram :-). Gov throttle min and max set to 800 and 2200 respectively.

Probably an an extreme example of ikon setup gone astray, but a real life scenario nonetheless.

Sorry, I know this is a bit off topic.

I'm just setting up my ikon; can someone tell me what the "sys/IO" port is for?

Ah... thanks...

Now I have to find this optional bluetooth module; being able to set up via bluetooth would make my life much easier and solve my mounting issue easier.

Assuming of course, a: I can set up by bluetooth, and, b: I can access the iKon by bluetooth from either my PC laptop or my iPhone.

Where can one find this bluetooth module?

Then I promise no more derailing this thread...

HeliDirect has the modules

Unfortunantly there is no iPhone support at this time. But you can access and setup the iKON entirely through bluetooth once you program the bluetooth the first time.

This video might help:

YES! What a timely thread/sticky!!!

Just finishing up the setup of my Trex 550 with iKon & Talon 90 - never used either before, only YGE & vBars so far. I thought I had the gov & esc setup properly but could not get any response from the motor when I selected "use gov" in the iKon. Thought maybe I mis-wired PS but was getting rpm in the iKon gov window and also in my tm1000 data. So I decided to come look here for some info and found this post. Now, just from watching the first few minutes of this vid I can see I dont have the ESC setup correctly to use external gov! Need to go back to watching but wanted to say YES- THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS!

Will probably be back soon with a few 'DOH questions' of my own!

Well shoot - I reprogrammed my Talon per the video to use multi-rotor, checked my gov settings in the ikon and throttle curve and I thought everything looked good. It spooled up with a smooth slow start (on the bench, pinion loose (mistake)) to the 30% Speed 1 RPM according to the gov info in the iKon but it was really quiet. Then when I brought the stick down ( I have the N curve at 0-30-30-30-30) below 30 the motor got loud like it got alot more power but the RPM was reading correct. Then in Idle 1 & 2 kinda the same thing, it would spool up slow and stay quiet then as I moved the stick or IU switch it would get really loud & fast again.

Long story short, I fiddled with the N curve to 30-30-30-30 and was playing with some other stuff and then all the sudden the motor takes off like a freaking 14s pack was connected to it, pinion catches motor shaft and in turn the main gear and eats out about 10 teeth in two different places and now I need to order parts and fix a heli I havent even flown... Damn good thing I didnt have mains on it.... I wont do that again even if the pinion is loose, its coming off from now on!

A bit more than the DOH questions I was thinking I would need to ask... Dang it, and I still have no idea why the throttle response was all over the place. I am pretty darn sure I have all ESC, iKon, and TX settings correct but apparently I have an issue somewhere....

Man I really screwed myself. The pinion is now stuck on the motor shaft and I think I see two hairline cracks in the pinion too. I heated it up but it wont come off. Just ordered a new pinion and main gear and now I'm about ready to toss this 600mx in the trash and order a new motor too. Really irritated at myself cuz I thought I was so close to getting it in the air and now I have to rebuild the darn thing to get back where I was an hour or two ago before I can even go back to figuring out what the heck happened with my throttle issue. Go with external gov mode on the talon, it won't do the crazy spool up.

Bailout won't work though, just to warn you.

Thanks for the tip. I have it in multi-rotor right now but Chris is going to help me sort thru it.

There where a few things that jumped out at me when we traded pms about his setup. We may very well end up in external gov mode. But for now we are looking at it one piece at a time.

Chris, thank you for taking the time to do this.

The info that comes with the iKon is pretty sparse to sat the say the least. I just got the electronics on my Trex 450 DFC today and will be setting up my iKon in the next couple days.

Your videos have been and will be a huge help.
