Man, I'm so excited about this event. I've never been to anything like this and my family thinks I'm crazy for cutting our spring break short to pass through Birmingham on the way home. My sister lives about 10 miles from the field in Alabaster and that's where we're staying.

But, I watched the "teaser video" and I'm kinda overwhelmed by the talent there. Is there an area for non-hotshot pilots? I can do loops and flips and FFF, but nothing like the guys in the video. I'm wondering if I should even register as a pilot.

Also, any chance there are going to be any vendors that carry GAUI Hurricane 550 parts there? I'm planning to be there Friday night through Sunday and I might need parts support if I crash.

Yep, you need to register as a pilot! You never know what you might win!

There's plenty of room for "non hotshot" pilots. I am by no stretch of the imagination a "Hot Shot" and probably never will be. Just register and get out and have fun. The only one you have to impress with your abilities is yourself.

It's always a great event. I can't wait to get there.

All I can say is big events are awesome to go to. Just watching the Top pilots fly is inspiring in itself. Just have to remind yourself to stay with in your limits.

Can't wait my first big event since returning to the hobby after 9yrs.

Don't worry, I may be a little too cautious for my own good.

This event is about cameradie and having fun. Most of the pilots that attend this event are coming from the north and snow is still on the ground. They just want to get out and see some old friends and do some flying. Anyone that has been to this event in the past will tell you. This is an opportunity to get some help and advice from some of the top pilots.
If you are a raw rookie or veteran. Bring your heli and equipment and have some fun. There will be several vendors here, so also bring a few extra dollars as you might find something you just have to have. This group is like a large family, we have fun together, sometimes we have disagreements. But still at the end of the day we all enjoy our time together.

I have had no problems calling home from the field on AT&T cell service.
Don't remember the # of bars but I never had any issues getting a signal.

The field is located less than a 1/2 mile from an interstate. There is several cell towers within sight of the flying field. Cell service, air card service is excellent at the field.

Wayne is pretty good. I don't know about that other pilot you mentioned. He was playing with Barbie dolls last time I checked. LOL
