Hmm, looks like there is still a large peice of foam under the controller, hope it is using the newer sensors like in the Futaba FBL that are very vibration resistant so it can be almost hard mounted to the frame.

Red is hawt. Some cultures consider it to be a "power" color.

No it’s not. Black is the power color. I don’t like red – I wonder if Skookum has already made the final decision? Art should really take a customer poll before he decides on a color.

Having an off putting dark pink to dark reddish case colour doesn't seem to have hurt sales for Kontronics...

While I must confess to having bought the clear case Quarks, the case colour really is the least of my concerns with a FBL controller...

You guys are missing the point. Why make it so ugly when there are so many better choices.

I’ll just get out the spray paint – LOL

True enough.

However Black is always "special"

JR 8717's and TORO and others like anodized red for servos.

I think red will help sell it, although black always works too, but I would save that for the TOL version.

Maybe they can reintroduce the 720 in black.

Actually, I partly take that back.

I was getting confused with a vaguely similar thread about the forthcoming Spartan Vortex. There, nothing is known except the cases - but colour seems to be a major concern to some parties.

I find that worrying...

At least here we have a fair idea about the likely functionality; so the going on about the colour isn't quite so sad...

I guess they could; but I'd rather hoped the target market was focused on functionality - rather than whether the case looked right with some pretty canopy.

Sorry, it's a pet hate. Then again, I'm sure I've bought things because they looked pretty, in my time.

Have you noticed how much people spend on bling for their helis? Seriously, it is insane not to think appearance has a huge impact. I guarantee that if the SK-720 looked really bad ass, it would sell a lot more. I purchased it DESPITE its appearance, but I can tell you right now that Helicommand has much more attractive looking units for sale.

I'm getting ready to boil up some RIT dye for the gears on my TDR to make them black so they don't show any discoloration after use.

Also think about how much people spend on canopies, air brushing, etc.. etc.. Appearance always matters!

I'm an electrical engineer by degree. I understand how functionality should be all that matters, but it is not even close to the impact visual cues make. You are being completely naive to think otherwise. Granted if the product doesn't perform people will steer clear.

I'm surprised that no one has created a gate of some kind to hold the servo wires in place so that people didn't feel the need to glue them in place. From a functionality standpoint this should be something obvious.

I'm not saying you're wrong. I'm saying I find it sad.

My X2's DS95 swash servos do look good, and their appearance does impress the the lady of the house - however, I bought them purely based on functionality.

To me, it just seems like another market dumbed down.
