Default Hyperion 550 + Stock Connectors question.

So I'm trying to figure out if I would run into any trouble if I went ahead and soldered stock mcpx connectors to the hyperion 550's instead of switching my 3n1 + Batteries to micro deans.

Your not letting the 550 batteries "be all they can be" with the stock connector!

The stock mCPX connectors are rated for 2 amps. The JST's on the Hyperions are rated for 3 amps. Micro Dean's are rated for 10 amps. The stock main motor alone pulls around 3.5 amps. Do the math.....

Yep - do yourself a favour and go microdeans - if you are going to the effort of removing the JST to solder on standard batteries - may aswell just go to microdeans and be done with it!

From what I've heard, people recommend to stay away from the knock off deans.

They are definitely better than the JST, but not as good as the genuine Dean's. I use them on my 120 SR, my stock mCPX, and on charging leads, but nowhere else. The real deal can be found for as little as $1.05 plus shipping a pair, so there's no reason to use the imposters. I got mine because I thought they were the real deal, when they delivered I found out differently. When I get a new batch of genuine Dean's, they'll replace the ones on all my helis, and I'll use the knockoffs on my chargers only .
