So are there any parts available these days?
I bought an SR the first day they came out, flew it for a couple of weeks, broke the center hub and that was it. No parts, so I gave up on it. I quit coming to this site since there was no point, with nothing to fly.
So whats the parts situation now?

Most of the parts on backorder are now showing due late June.
I've been told "the container ship has arrived" and "we're getting one shipment in May and another right after. The parts problem will shortly be over." I still like my SR and would recommend it with the caveat you may want to wait for parts to be available.

That's what I figured. I will never buy a new helicopter ever again.
E-flight taught me a lesson........... Sadly, I seriously doubt this situation has taught the upper management of E-flight anything. Tony

You would hope managment is looking for ways to increase their manufacturing capacity. I can't imagine why else it would take over a month to get parts made. They need second sources.

I've bought almost all the E-Flite helis and when something highly anticipated comes out Iexpect to crash then become grounded because everyone else does the same thing:order spare parts. Just goes with the territory. Soon SR parts will be as plentiful as ants on a sugar cube. Right now main gears have come in. Got all my other helis to fly.Hope to up in the air in a few weeks.

I thought I would share this with yall. I emailed HH back early May. I was so frustrated over the parts shortage, which I still am, and was very close to selling my sr. This was their reply too my e-mail.
Jerry, The sales rep who received your email forwarded to me, as it describes so clearly the issues we are having and the impact it is having on you and other pilots. I wanted to thank you for taking the time to give us honest and sincere feedback about how seriously this has impacted your experience. First and foremost, please allow me to personally apologize to you. There is nothing more frustrating than having your newest purchase sitting on a shelf looking at you because you can't fly it without more parts. As you can imagine, this has been a pinch point for far too many of our customers-and that is not okay with us. We're in this business because we love the excitement and fun and camaraderie that you just can't get with other pastimes. We want you to be at the field or in the park or in your back yard with your friends, laughing and showing off for each other. You can't do that if your heli isn't up and running. Immediately upon the release of the SR itself, it became crystal clear to us that we miscalculated demand and popularity of such a product. This particular heli appeals to a much larger audience than we originally anticipated and we've seen a much wider variety in experience level interested in the SR than we expected during the design and build of it. As such, our initial order for the heli and the parts inventory was since we really only anticipated the intermediate level pilots to be interested in the SR. We've seen everyone from experienced pilots to beginners buy this, and our inventory levels were not prepared for that level of popularity. In particular, parts have sold through MUCH more quickly than we ever would have guessed just by virtue of the fact that we've had such a variety of experience levels using this heli. I can tell you all sorts of reasons that we calculated demand the way we did-things like the six plus months of lead time for ordering shipments from the factory and the changes in the economy over the last year-but that information doesn't solve your problem. Bottom line-we missed the mark. Honestly, we've seen an uptick in a variety of different items beyond just the SR and its parts. As happy as I am that the economy and business is doing well, my happiness is tempered because I know we have items sitting in a backorder status and that means that I have people who are not able to be outside enjoying our products. I know that this response doesn't help you get your parts any more quickly in this instance and doesn't improve your experience with us, but please know that we recognize this as a major problem and are addressing it at every level of the company. We want to learn from our mistakes so that we don't repeat them. We want to give you a WOW shopping experience with Horizon EVERY time. We have begun to get parts in to fill backorders already and will be getting in more parts very soon. I do hope that you will give us the opportunity to serve you again in the future. The executive team is already well aware of our inventory issues with this product, but I have shared your email with them as well so they can see the level of impact this is having on you and other pilots. Please don't hesitate to contact me personally if there is anything else I can do to help you or if you have any further questions. Best Regards, Beth Wileaver Consumer Sales Manager Horizon Hobby, Inc.

Wow. He's right. The answer won't get us in the air one minute sooner, but a sincere apology is much better then ten minutes of finger pointing. thanks for posting that.

I sincerely do appreciate that kind of response.....but let me tell HH something, coming from a guy that ran spare parts operations for Fairchild Aircraft, who went out of business many years ago.
The reason.....they were too focused on building new aircraft and did not give a crap about the spare parts support. When Fairchild Aircraft was near death, the spare parts sales were all they had.....but it wasn't enough to keep the doors open. All of a sudden the elitest "production" employees were sucking the "spare parts" guys nuts to try and keep the operation afloat and keep their jobs. Before the company imploded, the "spares" guys were the red headed step children. I would bet that the same mentality is rampant with e-flight......well, obviously, they are still using all the parts to build complete aircraft and sell them, rather than diverting those same parts and putting them out to support existing aircraft. Fairchild Aircraft did the exaxt same thing and it put them out of business. If I was was the top guy at E-flight, I would take the VP of production and the VP of product support and swap them into each other's jobs. And for the VP of marketing.....well, he's pretty much worthless other than paying for the drinks at the gentlemens club.......... Tony Rumore Tromix Corp

I'm not quite done yet........
So HH says they are in this situation now, because they did not anticipate the SR would be such a HUGE success. This is where the marketing guys and new product development guys are stroking each other at length and the product support guys are taking it in the other end. But if upper management actually knows all about the issues, why would they continue to build new aircraft with the available parts, rather than divert them to product support? Doesn't that make the problem worse? Of course it does. But unfortunately the V.P. of product support is a wimp and needs to kick the production/marketing/R&D's guys asses into the dirt. Until that happens......well, I guess my SR will just be sitting on the ground and future sales of new e-flight products to existing customers, will start to trail off. Tony Rumore Tromix Corp
