So many things caught on fire that I struggle articulating the chain of events.
This was the Kobayashi Maru of of troubleshooting. Only I didn't win by rigging the simulation, I won with my Visa card.

Default YGE and VBar Gov Setup Instructions

Looking at the 120 LV instructions it mentions to separate the signal wire from the slave lead for phase sensor duties.
These instructions again are aimed at V bar users.

Is there a reason for this, does the V bar phase sensor port not take power?

Are you running internal or external bec? The sensor port should only take the signal lead because it can blow the voltage regulator, I had mine wrong for a long while but luckily didn't blow the vbar. External bec setups require orange signal to sensor port and the red wire removed from the plug on both wires and the ground from the signal lead plugged into another port. The signal side supplements the bec so that's why you remove the red from that as well. If internal bec you leave the red connected and plugged into another port but orange still in sensor port alone. These details weren't out a year ago when I did mine but mr mel has a good video about it.

I'm not using V bars and was just wanted to know why. With skookum you can leave the signal wire in the slave with power and plug into the IO-c phase sensor port.

I had originally separated the 2 but the need of a back up guard forced putting them back.

Thanks for clearing that up. Cheers

Hey guys - question for you about this programming just to make sure I got it right. I programmed my 120HV v2.3 following the v3 instructions, selected heli middle, gov off 3x, then plane fast and got the 'tone'. But when I go back to verify the settings, it shows freewheel on/gov off and on startup speed it shows heli middle, not plane fast. Is that correct?

Yeah, that's what mine shows too.

Oh and one more thing (yeah right, just one more...)

When I first setup vbar I calibrated my TX with throttle & collective at -100/+100 endpoints, but when I got to the swash/collective setup I had to bring the collective value down to +90 to get my desired pitch.

Does that matter when calibrating throttle end points with Vbar & ESC as long as I still had 100/100 throttle end points and 0 to 100 pitch curve in my radio?

In bench testing it seems to work OK - from my limited experience - I am getting 2144 max requested when I had it set at 2150 and also getting current RPM reading the same or very close to requested.

I'm running the YGE160 with Vbar 5.3 with my logo 700 extreme. In idle up 1 and 2, governor functions normally and set for 2050rpm. In normal mode, the motor will not start until I am at 1/2 throttle stick or above. Is this normal? If not, any ideas how to set the normal mode for linear throttle?

Thanks

Greg

Yes, It's normal. Vbar governor starts from 50% throttle.
You can set up the throttle in normal mode 0-60-60-60 for quick start up if you like.

Just to revive this thread, is it necessary to connect the RX pack negative to the flight pack negative like when a phase sensor is used?

Never mind. Turns out I got a 90HV without the governor output

Thanks to all who have contributed to this thread! Big thanks to Mystic3D for compiling and staying on top of things. I did a shakedown flight with my CHP DL-framed 700E today and it was amazing. I used plane fast / plane fast, 2% startup power. No tail kick and the power was just THERE. Auto bailout works great...I simply have no complaints! Had a HobbyWing before but the tail kick was severe...I always knew it would 'get me' some day but luckily never did.

Yes great thread. I keep coming back here for more and more info. Thanks for maintaining it Mystic3D among other contributors.

I put a YGE 120HV on my Logo 600SE mini-vbar. Right now I'm using a external phase sensor. I want to be able to use the built in phase sensor.
I picked up the esc used and it came with a jumper cable the previous owner made. I know I can use this with a full size vbar. But I would like to modify it so it would work with the mini-vbar. I did some searching on the thread and didn't come up with anything.

Anyone know if this is possible?

Thanks in Advance

Mike

Yea I know it's possible just not sure of the actual wiring. I remember thinking it seemed like a wiring mess so stuck with full size VBar. Sorry not much help

Hello,

I have just tried to configure my YGE 90 LV for external governor with the procedure hely middle- GOV off three times-plane middle but I am not getting any special tone.

What could I be doing wrong? Please help, thanks Daniele

Default Motor stop 160hv

Hey, SO glad I found this thread.

I've been flying a 160hv vbar governed all summer--with my vbar gov end points at -100/+100 I followed the exact instructions in the mikado videos and thought that was that.

It worked ok, but had a 2 sec delay on spool up and a pretty nasty tail kick. I figured that was just some yge thing. It's always felt a little light on power. It's a scorpion 4530 450kv on a g770. I went from a 12s setup to the current 14s one and thought it felt about the same as 12s...

I now suspect I was leaving about 10% or more of my top end on the table...

My end points in vbar are now -94/+107--I get to fly it tomorrow and am excited to see if the tail kick is gone. And if she has 'mo power.

I do have 1 question. When setting my low end (motor off) my motor doesn't start until -74. It also runs at a little higher rpm than the lowest speed possible. If I start the motor at -74 and back it down 1 click at a time until the motor stops, I end up at -84. Adding -12 gets me to -96. The 2 sec. delay is present until I hit -94. If I start with the motor on setting (-74) I get -86. Which number should I use? -86 obviously doesn't have the 2 sec delay, but is 8 clicks higher than the first setting that has no delay. Do I use the lowest setting that eliminates the delay? Or (-12) the motor start number?

My settings are-

Heli middle/plane middle
Auto start
12khz
18 degrees

Oh I almost forgot to mention. Bailout actually works now!!!
