Default Side by Side!

I wanted to mount my ESC under the canopy to keep it away form my RX, but I was having trouble figuring out how to do that and put two 3 cell 2200mah batteries in there too. (I don't want to buy 6 cell batteries, I want to share batts with my 450.) Stacking them was too tall and not very stable, so I went side by side. It works great. I had to put velcro on the side of the lipo.

On my 550 I run 2 x 3s 3300's, one on top and one on the bottom, with the esc mounted to the "esc" mount on the left side of the battery trays. On one of my 425's I modified the front of the frame to easily fit a 6s 2650, and on the other I run a single 2650 under the bottom but the canopy is a very tight fit on it.

The HeadHunter frames have a much nicer battery/esc mounting design. Getting ready to start my second HH build very soon.

+1 for the generous battery tray on the headhunter frameset. You could velcro a small shark to it.

And man that heli is very orange. Its unusual to see so much orange outside of the protos section.

I have a similar setup with 2 6s packs on the protos. Sticking velcro inbetween the packs so they velcro together really helped.

If you havent already, pick up the heli and shake it with the packs installed. That way you can get an idea how snug that setup really is.
