At last it has stopped raining, and I am on my 4th battery setting up the bird with a HH gyro - am just about there. Bit blustery though , so have got my modified "outrigger" type training kit on. Oh for a light wind!!!!!!!

Happy MayDay to you all -

would have been more appropriate last week considering all the "incidents"!!

Mike

Erwin, I [think] have sorted the gain on the HH gyro - very sensitive indeed. And the HH bit works a treat; sort of cheating really. Well that's the way I look at it for the time being. Really like the CNC head, although i have taken the liberty to order some more feathering shafts. Are there any options with this part, do you know?

Mike

12 days to getting my cast off!!!!!!!!!!

Like you its my first cnc head and tail also, I found it not up to my specs but I made the best of it and who can say they have a ally head for 50$, it is crash worthy I wonder what would break first ?
I also bought a futaba 7c 2.4 and having trouble understanding all settings but for now the setup of the 7c will do. Got to get back to flying but the weater is not permitting because my setup is ready to fly (RTF ) after 4 day's work

12 Days will be gone in a jiffy (in lack of an other word) just don't crash that bling, I think we are the only two who haven't crashed YET

Straighten the shaft put new blades on and tape it
I will not fly until I have evereything ready ,I have to make a new tray (yes I am a tray pilot ) for the 7c with a camera mount on it so everey time I go have some fun it will be on tape , for better or for worse .........

Yes Erwin, not one but 2 went today, quite a surprise. Wonder if it would be better to get a different servo for the tail rotor, maybe a bit more powerful one, not sure which?

Yes yes yes this thing flies better each time I rebuild it, Just put 2 batteries through it between the showers and it flies like a dream

When I took it to Midland Helicopters yesterday to get some bits for it, the Trexer
behind the counter dismissed the CopterX head as cheap foreign imitation rubbish when
I told him it cost about the same as an align tailblade holder

I told him to have a good look at it and could see that he percieved the hollowness of his
derisory comment, Well I suppose it'll fly O.K. he mumbled

They are still about £38 built up from HK inc delivery for V2 head.....

I think head and tail V1 kit is only about £45.

I love it man

Well, Ian, I hate to say it but after a day and morning rebuilding - new boom, CNC tail, new blades, replacement servos, I have lost my confidence and am afraid to go fly it!!!!!!!! Wx is perfect here, bird looks good, not sure about the HH gyro settings yet, but, but. Am just so apprehensive about this next step........................................

I know exactly what you mean bro.
After putting it in the tree I felt the same, realised that though I can fly it fine close too I don't have the experience to instinctivly know the Attitude of the heli when its a few hundred feet away, that is the down side of such a small heli.

Just hammer the sim for half an hour before you go out and then keep it with in your comfort zone for a week or so, I does'nt really matter If your just hovering till your confidence comes back.

It's fear that causing you to freeze that usually crashes it

I'm just getting my confidence back now, I'm not ashamed to take it steady and I only have 2 batteries at the moment so its half an hour flying then 4 hours waiting

Ian

Well guys.... i LOOPED IT TODAY!

and it was so FREAKING awesome! What an incredible adreneline rush to FINALLY do it, and to see that it really can be done BY YOU in YOUR HELICOPTER.

Spent about 4 batteries just warming up, hovering nose in, etc. Brought it up to a hover, went to idle up put it out in front of me and did a couple 'hard pitch ups' (with the flybar weights off Dier...you are right, it does respond a lot better) just to see how the heli reacts. One last 'are you ready' and pulled straight back, she smoothly went over as it approached upside down applied just a little collective (and alomst cracked my face with the ear to ear smile) just let her roll around the rest of the way and eased collective back in.

WOW...going upside down that first time is yet another hurdle climbed...and I couldnt WAIT to do it again. So I went through all the same motions...this time just a little slow on the negative pich so it started to lose altitude and I got nervous and punched it. This kicked the tail just a little halfway through the loop and I got nervous, lost orientation and spazzed.

She went into the grounf, me still on an adreneline high looking for the throttle hold swtich while she cartwheeled around a bit in idle up.

Anyways...New Main Gear, Main Shaft, Tailboom, Main and Tail blades. But I really didn't care... I DID IT!

...oh, and the freakin feathering shaft STILL hasn't bent.

Phew!!!!!!!!!! Got over that one!!!!!!! But the copter is really sluggish in pitch. Roll and collective are fine. Wne I disconnect the pitch servo rod from the swash, the servo arm deflection is fine, and the rear serv os push the swash up and down ok. When I disconnect the 2 roll servo rods, and reconnect the pitch, deflection and swash movement is also fine and normal. But all 3 together, and pitch is reduced significantly????????????

Put a bit of silicon oil on the swash etc, and loosened a touche some of the head arm bolts, and it seems a little better - can't test it as it is raining...

?? If it was washout arm links then Aile. as well as Elev. would be affected.

Cant be elev. servo link cause you got front DTS Sounds strange Is the swash same
diameter as plastic one?
