We need a smiley/auto insert for this and a couple of other things.

Maybe also add a top 10 list for gyro FAQ. The only problem is how to make it easy to find.

Actually when the galleries come up expect major renovation of my forum here... Basically I will make a scripted gallery that lists topics and such and links to videos in an organized fashion. Also no more having 100 stickies here in my forum but stick things like this... FAQ's, etc.

Stay tuned I plan to clean house a little... Back when i started I had no clue how much stuff I would kick out and thus later have to organize.

Default The last 12 months...

It is now one year since the ds760 was first mentioned on the web so I thought to give a brief account of the last 12 months that lead to the ds760's big success.

15 Jan: Fellow club member sneaks the news of the upcoming gyro on an Internet forum. Some people are supportive of the performance claims; others are doubtful.

4 Feb: First video of the ds760 in flight is released on our website.

28 Apr: One of the prototype gyros was flown at SEFF in USA. A few well known pilots also had the chance to fly it and it was very well received.

18 May: With the plastics just in a few days ago we managed to put two prototype gyros together to demo at Clubman 3D in the UK. Many pilots also got the chance to fly my heli at the funfly preceding the competition. The ds760 is fully functioning but some of the extras like firmware update functionality and USB support are still missing.

20 Jul: With just a couple days to spare a small batch of pre-production gyros is ready in time for 3D Masters. The bad weather prevented us from doing a demo flight but we managed to persuade some elite pilots to test it and give us feedback.

31 Jul: The first ds760 is sold to a very keen customer.

25 Aug: The promotional video for the Gohbee Phazor 600 is released on the web. The heli is fitted with a ds760.

29 Sep: The funfly preceding the 3D Championship in UK was again an opportunity for UKs best pilots to try the ds760 and for us to demostrate the Bluetooth connectivity and telemetry system we used to develop the gyro.

28 Oct: First photos and demo videos of the T-Rex 500 appear on the web. Guess what!... the prototype it is fitted with a ds760.

3 Nov: First sponsored pilot joins Spartan RC to fly the ds760.

28 Nov: Two more pilots join Spartan RC; we now have a team to be proud of Surely they deserve a page on our website!

Dec-Jan: More of the world's best pilots join our team. The ds760 is now probably the most desirable gyro on the market with many people eagerly awaiting the arrival of the next batch.

I have a question regarding the gyro setup and the X9303. In my hold Futaba TX my gain value ranged from -100 to +100 but in the X9303 it looks like it is from 0 to 100. I use to have a setting of +25 for HH in Futaba, does that equate to 62.5 on the X9303?

Is 50 = to 0 in Futaba? As well this looks like half the resolution to me, 100 steps vs 200. So What am I doing wrong?

Thank you

mporlier, sorry it is impossible to advice on that one as every radio is different. There are differences even between radios of the same brand also and depends whether you are using the dedicated gyro options or adjust the gain with the ATVs as I like to do. In future release of the firmware and computer software we will add a field to display what gain the gyro sees.

Pinecone, we hope to ship to the shops in less than two weeks time. Add a few days for delivery.

I use to have a Futaba 7CHP now I have a X9303 with the gyro menu activated on AUX 2. No ATV, I can assign values to different flight modes.

mporlier, for X9303 are you using the gyro menu? If so you must have the gain line in AUX 2. The gyro menu will not work in GEAR channel with the gyro menu. Why JR did this is beyond me because users of 6 channel RX's cant use the gyro menu!

OK so if you using the gyro menu then 50 and above is HH mode and below 50 is rate mode. Also the STEPS are different. TRUE gain is calculated as (x-50) X 1.44. So if you have 74 in your gyro menu then (74-50) x 1.44 = 34 Gain.

If using travel adjust on gear channel then it's +100 to -100 and the number pretty much matches gain so if you wanted 34% gain set the left end point to 34.

Hope this helps,
Bob

Angelos,

SpartanRC has really had a great first year with the DS760 and I have been very happy with mine. As you said, it seems to be the most desired gyro out there and I guess you could even call it 'disruptive technology'. Every gyro maker will now try to react and change their game plan to keep up with the new expectations SpartanRC has set.

I think what really sets the DS760 apart from the others is (in no particular order):
1. Awesome performance
2. USB interface
3. Upgradeable firmware
4. Adjustable endpoints (and not using a pot!)
5. Unique configuration option using the TX.
6. Support of all servos
7. Configuration interface to read/tweak operating parameters
8. Small form factor

Congratulations on the success and looking forward to new features.

What's the latest word on the DS650? It seems to have fallen by the wayside.

Since they're based on the same board, we need production to catch up to demand on the ds760's so we can get some ds650's off the line.

Hi,

I'm mounting my spartan on my TREX500. I'm gonna put it on top as recommended, but can I reverse it ?

I mean with BUILD 1, I have the wires going toward the boom, I think that with build 2, it will be neat, the wires will go inside the frame.

As long as its upright it doesn't matter if the wires are pointing forward or back - it will work the same. In this case you push the rudder stick to the left when in the gyro direction setup.

-> Angelos

When installing the Spartan gyro on a T-Rex 500, would you recommend to use the metal plate?

The reason for my question is of course that I would like to save the weight if the plate is not needed.

If it can be installed without the metal plate, would you recommend to use the "foamy tape" to reduce the vibrations just a little?

By the way, do you have any objections to this install?

https://www.helifreak.com/showthread...328#post517328

Thanks in advance

Peter
