The ikon save me a crash today! I ran out of space, .5 of a second of hitting the deck, I went to flight mode with self level and went with around 8 degrees of positive pitch and walk away!

Finished my build: https://www.helifreak.com/showthread...68#post4783868

Maidened my Protos this Saturday. It was interesting to say the least, only managed to get three flights in :).

My Protos received a resurrection today, in stretch form! Gave her a front-yard maiden hover this morning and I am very very happy! I can't wait to get her to the field so she has plenty of room to stretch her legs properly. The Protos is once again my favorite bird

Had a big funfly on the weekend, the Protos Stretch got a few flights testing the Sookum GPS and is still in one peice. The night flight Protos Stretch had 4 packs through it in very windy conditions but did a great job with the new 475mm nite blades I made for it.

Have been playing with my larger 600 sized helis lateIy, and have been neglecting my Protos fleet. Today I dusted my P500 off and got it back in the air today with a Brain instead of a BX.

Got the headspeeds set at 2750, 2850 and 2950 with some hovering in the driveway using the YGE gov.

Wow, I forgot how quiet a P500 is!!
Just need to take it out the the field and get her more dialed in.

Next project is getting my miniP airworthy.

First set of power loops and backflips on the new bird ( flights 5-8). On the first flip gave waaayyyyy to much neg pitch when inverted and the bird nearly disappeared into outer space-- also got behind me a bit on the flight line -- probably did a few extra flips and rolls before I caught orientation again. Close call but ended well.

Practicing inverted hovering 3 mistakes high....and had the belt slip.

It landed in the grass inverted from about 100 feet up....haven't disassembled it yet but the boom and tail appear to be okay. Need new blades, spindle, main shaft, 3rd bearing block, both frames (they look cracked), blade grips, and 3 linkages so far.

Not too happy right now

Finally the winter has left the Netherlands. I flew couple of packs today.
First time funnels and my first full piro flips.

The Protos gives me so much confidence. Even more the his bigger brother; Atom 5.5 stretched.

Hi there. Nice to meet. Saw your building process on the dutch forum too. Are you flying at the Dutch Springmeeting 2013 at MVC Snoopey?
If so, should be nice to meet you in person. I fly my protos with a yellow and orange canopy.

I decided to give my Protos a new look after my little mishap yesterday (broken skids, blades, main shaft, and feathering shaft......). Only had orange skids so decided to make everything match with a set of tails and an FG canopy......

I replaced the main frame, tail box c/w bearings, all idler pulleys, main grip c/w all bearings, boom mount, tail servo mount, anti rotation bracket, main grip links, FBL grip uniballs, tail grips and hub, tail blades and main blades.

Surprisingly, all the shafts on the heli were straight after this last crash!

rossk,

I really don't know where they came from. A buddy of mine gave me a couple of them for helping him out with some things. I will have to ask him where he got them from and let you know.

Finally got the bushings for the KBDD tail blades I've had for about a year, ground them down so they would fit in my grips (infinity grips, MSH thrusted hub) and took her out for a flight.
I had to dial the tail gain down a fair bit and did get some crazy wag but I was flying in 20 kt winds.
Threw the belt on the last flight but managed to auto down.

The two that I got are the same orange color as the skids and the tail blades sold by MSH....The picture of the canopy in the link you posted is definitely red. Are you sure this is the same canopy?
