We had actually planned to do it the weekend prior but decided to move it back a week as it conflicted with RCX expo.

Some more information:

Friday, May 23rd: 8am - 10pm
Saturday, May 24th: 7am - 10pm
Sunday, May 25th: 7am - noon

We will be doing traditional night-flying with night-rigs only. No spotlights due to AMA National Safety Code section B-8.

You are welcome to camp at our field! This will be on a first-come first-serve basis (no fee) - that said we do have lots of room. There is no water or electricity at the field. No dumping, dry camping only. Due to our climate and location, campfires are not permitted.

I'm pleased to say we will have representatives from Horizon there (and not just me! ), and I'm sure over the coming weeks we will grow the list.

Hope to see you on Memorial Day Weekend!

I received a message from Jeff Fassbinder of AssuranceRC and the Align guys are coming!

Align has been a great supporter of this Fun Fly over the years and they always bring the latest and greatest that Align has to offer.

can you use a spotlight if the heli is lit up ? I have a hard time seeing mine when using just the onboard lights , a spotlight helps me a bunch ...

Is section B-8 a new addition? Either way, that's a bummer!

Yeah it's a shame for sure. The rule stipulates that night flying requires a lighting system that provides a clear view of attitude and orientation at all times. So it seems like it wouldn't violate the code to ADD a spotlight. It will be up to our CD though.

I just read it. Says nothing about it being prohibited at all. It says hand held illumination is inadequate. Does not say that you cant do it. I say we put a single glow stik on the skids and a single glow stik on boom. Fastened with zip ties. Theres the orientation that it asks for. Bring the spot lights!
