Default 550E v1 2mm Carbon Frame set??

Hi forum,

I had a minor incident with my 550v1 FB heli two days ago... replaced front umbrella's, skid and pitch control assembly.. all good.

BUT, on rebuild, I notice that the tail rotor is sloppy, that's no issue... £20 and a new complete assembly can be had, but... the old 1.6mm frame is split on one side, right at the back.

A quick trawl of the interweb finds lots of sites saying the stock 1.6mm frame is weak.

I'm looking at the 2mm carbon frame, but notice that there is a 550E PRO frame set in 2mm carbon too... for the DFC version. Are these interchangeable? Stocks are low everywhere in the UK.

As far as I recall, the V1, V2, DFC and Pro all used the same frame layout. They just varied by external components. With only larger motor cut-outs found in the latter for the bigger motor. Then there is always aftermarket too:

I've had my glass fiber Fusuno for years....

I have orange g10 frame sides on both my 500 & 550. Love them.

Agreed. I like the battery tie-downs as well, and don't think that 8s pack went un-noticed...

Wink, wink, nudge, nudge say the Flying Circus boys. Glad you noticed! The benefit of keeping a bird for a little while gives one time to continue to revise/refine. Cheers

Here in OZ, a couple of decades, ago there was an ad campaign for a chocolate covered bar starring Eric Idle (IRC), which had the punch-line: "Nudge, Nudge, Wink, Wink - Say NO MORE!"

Thanks all. Managed to source some 2nd hand 2mm carbon sides

They're all back in now, and I thought I'd got it all done... noticed some slight bend in the tail rotor shaft last night though. Need to change this also.

Almost back airborne again though
