Default Post your T-Rex 550 videos here!

Video was just uploaded so it may be low quality, this is basically the first real flight. This thing has a shizz load of power at 10 degree's pitch at 85% throttle in idle up...Check it out!

Greetings from Taiwan..

Here is a video of my friend stretching the arms of his T550e... I wonder, why is my 550 looks so dull in the air, while others' fly so lively Need tones more practice...

Yeah, mine doesn't look quite like that in the air either.

Your friend is a very talented pilot - Great flying and great video. Thanks for sharing!

Here's a video from one of my flights about a week ago. Most of it is wicked shaky because my brother had a bit too much coffee before filming, but some of it's not bad. The flying isn't very exciting compared to the insane 3D stuff in most of the 550 vids I've seen, but not too bad considering I've only been flying CP helis for a few months.

I am totally loving this helicopter.

Very nice.

I've been flying for substantially longer than you, although I don't get much flying time, and I'm not quite that good.

When you switched from Normal to Idle-up what's the % change in Throttle?
Also, what collective and cyclic pitches are you running?...if you don't mind.

Thanks, man.

My idle-up 1 (what I'm using in this video), is a flat 85%. I was probably hovering at around 65% in normal, so I'd estimate it was around a 20% jump. I have my idle-up 2 set for 100-85-100, which is what I usually fly at, but I've been experimenting with both to see how they feel.

I'm running +/- 12 degrees pitch and 13 degrees cyclic.

Thanks for the info.

...and 13 degrees cyclic.

That's why it looked so snappy to me...way too much for my aging eyes and reflexes.
I'll probably start with more like 7°/8° cyclic. :o

I'm flying my Blade 400 and building my Trex 550 (stock). I cannot wait to maiden. Will it be a whole new world of stability and performance? Does your flying improve when you fly the 550?

Cheers.

Oh yeah - just wait until you feel how BIG and stable the 550 feels as soon as you take her up into a hover. It's unbelievable. You're going to love it!!

It's definitely helping to improve my flying as well. I'm trying things with it that I've never tried with the 400 because not only is it super-stable, but it's also powerful enough to quickly recover from situations where I'd probably crash the 400.

The one thing I'd caution you about is to watch your speed when you start doing forward flight. The 550 is ridiculously fast. That was probably the toughest thing to adjust to after flying the Blade 400. Once you get comfortable with the speed, though, it's SO much fun.

Did you get the 3G or flybarred version?

Dear all..

Here is a little footage of my 550e and I participating in a RC flying contest. Having been flying CP heli for 9 months, I signed up for the newbie class certifying test. And here it is... please be generous and show me some support Thanks!

Though my dad is a pretty crappy camera man (probably as bad as my flying ), still, hope you'd like the vid~
