Setting up CGY750 Gov with T8FGS - Question
I'm using a Futaba T8FGS with the CGY750 V1.31.
Setting up the Futaba Governor for the first time but I get kinda confused. I've programmed my flight modes to the "SE" 3-way switch and TH to the "SB" switch. The RPMset menue on the CGY750 shows "2" & "1500rpm" when TH is activated and "3" when I switch out of TH. When switching between the three different flight modes the CGY says "3" in all modes. RPM are synced and shows the same figures (2150/2300/2450) in TX and CGY when I flick the switch. The manual says that I should make sure the display reads 1/2/3 when switching between flight modes. Am I doing something wrong or does it work like this? Thanks.

I had the same concerns but i ended up ignoring it.. It appears it might be related to the rpm range its be set rather that 1,2,3 head speed.
Works fine for me with only have 2 and 3 used for the 3 flight modes. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD |

Thanks a lot for fast reply.
One more question popped up.. What about throttle curves? In my VBar I setup the desired Gov HS with flat throttle curves. With the T8FGS and CGY750 the desired HS are set in the governor menus. Should I deactivate the throttle curves from the flight mode switch when using the CGY750 Governor? The manuals doesn't say what to do, a bit confusing.

The suggestions that I posted/started in the other thread suggest OPTIMIZE mode and have specifications for how to set the throtttle curve.

Thanks a lot Ben,
I've read your other post but I thought the OPTIMIZER mode was for the Castle ESC only..

If it's a nitro, leave your curves in as normal as a back up, making sure they don't dip below the gov activation level.

Sorry, have been hung in E governor mode for the past few weeks. Still, the reality is that OPTIMIZE with response mode of MIDDLE is still correct for a nitro model. Keep the throttle curves in there and roughed in because the 750 still looks at them for the basis of governing the best way.

I have had an interesting experience today.
Programed the YGE to gov off and plane fast as suggested by YGE if external governor should be run. Programed the CGY750 gov as per the manual and Dr.Bens suggestions in the other thread. Went out in the garden to spool up the heli without blades. All went good except for the governor display showing about 200 rpm's more than the requested rpm's (IU1 2250 / IU2 2450), it was also overspeeding. I was flicking the IU switch back and forth a couple of times when all the sudden the engine reved down to about 700 rpm and got stuck there. I could not shut the engine off. Throttle control in NORMAL mode was not working, TH didn't work either. Wasn't to happy about pulling the main cable so I tried to shut the transmitter down and let the fail safe shut the engine. Didn't work. I had to pull the cable to shut the engine off.. What the heck was that about?

there is so small of a difference in the servo monitor that the gov doesnt see the amount it needs to get to 1 and 2. start in idle up 2 that is 3 on the gov and set your rpm. switch to idle up1 then turn the rpm in the gov menu on the tx until you see the display read 2, press the up and down arrows on the cgy750 a couple times. now set the rpm on the 750 to the speed you want. do the same for idle up 1. your transmitter will not have the correct rpm in 1 and 2 but the gov will read right and switch from 1 2 3 i just set the range to %. mabey futaba can fix this in the next update on the 8fg? it didnt do this in the early versions.

Thanks!
I tried to set it up your way and now the 750 change between 1,2,3 and with the correct rpm's. Transmitter flightmodes. Governor menu: Normal 30% IU1 60% IU2 90% 750 display: 1 - 2150 rpm 2 - 2300 rpm 3 - 2450 rpm When I hit TH the 750 display is reading 2003 rpm... why is that? It's very late here now, will spool up tomorrow morning.

Not sure, I had some rpm hunting while trying to sort the governor out myself, but never had any problem shutting the motor down. I'd be setting up the failsafe again just in case.

I'm obviously not quite sure about how to setup the TRH failsafe correctly in my T8FG..

Finally, I got the governor working as expected.
I did the standard 2500/1500/1000 rpm calibration then went over to set my desired rpms in the TX, following up with dialing in matching rpm values in the 750. As suggested by a couple of guys here at HF, I ignored the 1 2 3 setup and got it working with the 750 display reading 3 in all my three flight modes.
