brain\Ikon advanced setup help??
Converted my TTX 50 to an Ikon this past weekend. Madden went great! However i read up on some forums here about getting the correct servo geometry. I have done everything to a T, as noted by others, and achived a 1:1 ratio. BUT, when setting up/re checking, my pitch and cyclic, using an align digital pitch gauge, I get 9deg cyclic degrees in one direction and 8.3deg cyclic or so the other direction. Also positive pitch reads 13.1 but neagative will be 14.1 or so. I used a swash leveling tool, and have 0 at center stick. So why do i still get inconsitent reads??
if i make any changes in ikon, or mechanicaly, I get 14.2 pos, and 12.8 neg. I noticed all of this when i did consecutive rolls in one direction and the the other, the heli was faster in one direction. similar issue on elavator, but not as noticiable. am I just being crazy or did i not setup something correctly? Seemes like no matter what i do i get in consistent readings. My other birds with beastx dont do this!? Any sugestions from other Raptor pilots would be greatly apperciated. Thanks |

Use a mechanical gauge. Put a hex driver through the hole in the side of the head to use as zero reference.
https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=602713 I have always had the same issue you speak of when I use the digital gauge with other FBL units as well. When I use a mechanical gauge it seems to be easier to get dead on. I'm going to be setting mine up with an IKON today. We will have to compare notes.

I have an Ikon on mine, and i did not have that problem.
Double check all your ball link lengths. if all your ball links are the correct length then i would guess your digital pitch gauge is inaccurate.

Ok. Checked all the links, they were perfect. Measured again with digital calipers. Used a standard pitch gauge with wrench and surprise. Got 9 deg cyclic both ways, however +1.5 pos, difference in pitch from negative, for a total of 14 on top and 12.5 bottom. Well it's close so ill keep looking for perfection, but for now ill fly it and see how it does. Thanks both of you guys.

brain\Ikon advanced setup help??
Just finished setting mine up. Clean +-12 collective (I limited mine there ). +-15 cyclic.
Both are within half a deg ish BTW I believe with the ikon you give it as much cyclic pitch as you can and tone it down for flying using the agility setting. (This is true on the 3gx)

I dont know wht radio your useing i set my agality switch to my idle up switch so in norm mode i have biginner ie low head speed slower agility and idlu2 sport and my second head speed. Then i have bank 3 for self level and set to trainer 8fgs and then made two mixes so that bank 3 will over ride one and two

Here you go. I also measured the distance of the swash to the frame for center stick (while running the setup program). Mine is 21.2 mm. I have a level swash at top center and bottom stick.
The pictures are of the left and right side if facing the model. The trick is the pin for ELE should be in the center of the hole and the pins should make a straight line across the screws. This is a Jig for measuring my links (see the end for what tool I'm using now) https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=598743 Here is a quick jig to help square up your horns https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=448331 If you want more let me know. I hope this helps.

+1 That's what I did when I threw mine together last week. 13/-13 and 13 cyc to start with. 600N smacked well with those numbers, we'll see how the X50 does later with a 55HZR. Maiden went great with some piros....except for my starter collet flying off somewhere. Anyone know if an 600N fits in the interim? New one shows up Thurs.
Thing is, I will always have a small pitch discrepancy (sub .4) when using this set of servos. One of my old-ish 610s I used for the time being has a mis-calibrated pot in it, so it'll travel a tiny bit farther than it should in both directions. The iKon (or any other controller) can't really compensate for this using endpoints either, so the brain dead servo goes on ail duty where geometry will minimize it's effect. Assuming everything else is perfect, you can account for small absolute pitch differences by using pitch travel in your tx.
