Default HH BL coming whats needed?

I bought a used Nano with a HH BL kit from a reputable seller. I had a Nano about 2 years ago. Its in a mangled pile some where in my heli room. It is coming with Micro heli swash (orings installed) and grips.
I'm looking to not add weight. I read the swash is better than the stocker but do the main grips improve things or just add weight? Any other weight loss ideas?

Oh and what are the best blades?

Thanks

If you get Al grips make sure they have 1.5mm feathering shaft. Those shafts are tough. A small weight penalty and a great reliability jump.

or better

Unless the seller has done some tail work, you'll need to figure out how to avoid tail blowout...

One way is to reduce the pitch servo travel...another is to buy a 7mm tail setup

I'd strongly suggest an extended tail boom too...helps control blowout and gives better control to the rudder

I have read about extending the tail. Is there a kit or mod for this?

Sure...it's a stock Blade part...

BLH3602 with your choice of tail rotor

PS - BLH3602L is the longer version for the mCPX...the 3602 is just right for the Nano

How is an extended tail better? Because it has to run less?

Extending the tail has nothing to do with it's "run"...

The added rudder control and tail authority are a definite improvement

Add a 7mm tail motor and you'll have tail blowout cured

I see, so get another motor because the stock is bad? I should look into the extended boom

It's not that the stock tail motor is bad...

You are adding power to the main with the BL upgrade, so you'll face serious tail troubles if you don't address it

A longer boom gives the tail increased mechanical advantage in the form of leverage.

I think I'd find the best 200 Mah lipos for it though. The 150 45C lipos have great punch but don't last much past 2 minutes.

Here are a few ideas if you want a really improved Nano...

If you can solder take off the BL kit shrink wrap from the BL ESC board and resolder the signal (orange) and power wires (white + black) on the right side in the pic. They tend to fall off the board due to 3rd world solder quality.

In that pic ignore the fact that I deleted the 3 pin connector for the motor on the ESC. Mine sheared off so I had to wire direct but it was a complete fluke. All my others are intact. For weight loss I deleted all the plastic connectors.

Don't use a zip tie that was a really terrible idea of mine. A narrow length of electrical tape instead is perfect and it sticks to itself where it overlaps and will never fail and its practically weightless. The provided mounting tape is a good cushion between the boards but won't hold the ESC on the board. Hence the tape (again instead of that zip tie).

Also consider the Lynx stretch blades and boom. The stretch boom is solid not hollow and indestructible. The stability the stretch kit brings to the BL equipped Nano is extraordinary. Personally I've never had an issue with the stock tail motor, stretch setup and BL kit. I've got 4 of them identically configured. Here is an old pic showing the Lynx boom & blades:

You would have to solder the tail wires of course. Simply reuse the stock connector from the old boom where it connects to the board.

Finally, for a completely indestructible Nano, the XTreme Canopy and Airtime skids. The Airtime skids improve CG with a revised battery location which is another bonus.
