Default How do you connect battery

Hi guys,

Which way do you prefer?

I prefer the setup on the left in illustration because I like to power up and initialize Vbar first by connecting 6s#1 then connect 6s#2 to initialize ESC on all my 12s Logos and Synergy.

Or should I choose setup on the right in illustration? Make 12s first by connect 6s#1 and 6s#2 then connect to the YGE and BEC?

Thank you for looking.

I would go with the illustration on the right, 12s pack first then to esc/bec

If you do option one, you will kill your electronics.

Your numbering is the wrong way around. Always start from the black (-) side on your esc.

Dart has right. Like on picture 1, you will kill you r electronic.

Please read in that thread the post from electricsheep:

If you connect your BEC to just one Pack, connect it to that pack, where the black (minus) cable goes
to your ESC (in your graphic called "6V #2").

be very glad that you didnt connect the second lipo yet because it will blow up your bec and perhaps all your electronics.
in the image you have the bec on the 6-12S side while it should be on the 0-6S side. The way you have it in the image you will have a 25V difference in ground.

If you switch the bec to the other side, so bec ground is esc ground then you should be good to go.

I like 'left style' because...

Can power electronics with out powering ESC
Can use less expensive 10s max BECs

I also install an EC2 between the BEC and the pack connector so I can easily swap out the BEC if needed.

I do the option to the right, plus use a western robotics battery buffer board, it takes two power sources, outputs the higher voltage. Also use a small 450mah 2s lipo as one of the power sources to boot system and also to tweak V-bar without powering up ESC/BEC.

This thing is just a diode OR circuit but the package is very neat, also has led's on each input and the output.

The left is a 6s setup and the right is a 12s setup. Either one will work it just depends on what BEC you choose. When someone has a Jive, the BEC inside the ESC comes on when the ESC is connected as well. There is nothing wrong doing it either way as the VBAR does not send signal to the ESC until it is initialized.........Ron

If you use a castle Bec, go with the 6S option as you will have higher current output from the BEC. I use the updated Left 6S connection on my L700 equipped with a CC Pro BEC.

I personally don't like CC BECs and with HV servos, why not just go 2s lipo direct??? That way if the main connection comes loose or fails, you still have control of the servos.
