Want: Low HS idle 1 on HJ 120, Futaba 8FG

Is it possible to set a low flat line throttle% (<60%) for low headspeed?
Setup:
Futaba 8FG
HJ 120 and Progdisc
Quantum 4530-500 23T pinion (Goblin 700 with HPS head)

I have tried setting a 40% curve, but the heli does not spool up with a TH% less than 55%.
Tried setting "transition point" at 40% and no change; still no spool up below 55%.

What mode are you in? Mode 6 is the only mode that can be offset with the disc. Default of below 50% the gov is softer it and above 50% it is more aggressive and this can be adjusted with the disc 60/40 etc. But dosent explain why you don't have spoolup below 55% does the ESC make tones below 55% ? also have you INH hover trim in the throttle and pitch menus on screen page 2 of the 8FG? Did you program mode 1 with TH endpoints 100/100?and what value is Hold 17% default? Were your packs fully charged each time you tried to initialize the ESC? Did you open any other menus with the progdisc that you know of such as stick positions? You may have to try a reset of mode 1 and 6 as it is great for low HS.

Yes, it is INH.

TH is set to 15%; does it need to be set @ 17%?
End points were done with Progdisc also (I believe this is stick position)

Yes

Did you open any other menus with the progdisc that you know of such as stick positions? You may have to try a reset of mode 1 and 6 as it is great for low HS.

I'll have to do stick programming instead of using Progdisc and see how that works.

Yes dont use thr position on disk, you also need to do mode 6 on sticks. I use disk only for bec voltage change

I'm running mode 4 on my heli jive.....does the governor not work under 50% TC? Reason i'm asking is that I'm considering to change to mode 6 but I dont have a prog disk...I'm running it on my TDR and would like to obtain a 1400-1500rpm...BUT i'm changing my pinion to a 14t....Now according to Mr Mel in order to do that my TC in mode 4 needs to be below 50%, say 45%...sorry this might be a stupid question

On the HJ Mode4 you will not get governor below 50%, but it will work perfectly in Mode6. wblombard just check when using MrMel calc that you do select the correct mode for governor, plus the calc is just a starting point, you have to tach the HS to get the values you want.

You dont need prog disk for mode 6, as far i know gov works below 50% in mode 4 but is better in mode 6

Manual says it softens gov below 50% to ease up on tail.
Lower HS mean weaker tail, no sense fighting an over aggressive gov when the tails is weakest.

Another issue; unable to get HJ into programming mode with sticks. Is there a anyway to restore it to factory default and start over?

Well, you go into programming mode and program mode 1.....
That doesn't help does it?
Are you pulling the plug out when trying to go into programming mode with the sticks?

Finally figured it out.
Not sure if this is the way it's supposed to work, but it did finally work for me. Used the Progdisc for setup and the HJ wouldn't go into stick programming mode even with jumper removed and the Heli wouldn't spool up at any throttle % below 55. Today I used the progdisc to reset defaults and Whatayaknow it worked! . Stick programming mode 1 and 6 low HS flight worked great!
