Venture .60

Went to are local (well some what local) anual RC fair today and SCORED this Bruce Thorpe venture .60 kit for $60 No lazer cutting here all machine cut and looks flippin great WOW cant wait to start!

Got started today what quality for a non lazor cut kit. Everything fitting together very nicely. Gonna run dual servos on the ailerons so I drilled holes in the ribs to allow for the servo wire. and tubing for my airspeed telemetry.

What are you gonna power it with?

Power is gonna be supplied with an OS .61 also gonna attempt to cowl in the nose. Got a bit more done today.

A bit more progress. Finished as much of the wing as I can for now and started on the fuse. Some of the fuse tabs were a bit tight and some a bit loose but no big deal, just used a small file on the tight ones and will pay a bit more attention to alignment and squareness before final gluing. What a great kit.

Well off to Oregon until Tuesday so the build will halt until then. Got the fuse glued up today and finished the turtle deck still have to do the wing mounting blocks front deck and drill the holes for the fuel lines throttle linkage etc. etc.. The stringers were a bit wavy so I had to fudge the notches one way or the other to make them straight.

Opted to go with the stock split landing gear so I reinforced the area and moved it forward 1/4" to hopefully eliminate the possibility of nose overs that Ive been told about. Fuse ready to have the nose cut off to prepare for my cowl build tomorrow. Fiberglass tape applied to wing.

well chopped the nose off. and the rough build of the new cowled nose. used 1/8" balsa for the sides and 1/2" for the bottom with 1/2" tri stock on the bottom to make sure its plenty thick since most will go away during shaping and sanding. Used 1/2" tri stock to support top cross member. Now while its all drying I will build a 2" ring from 1/8" light ply for the front since im using a 2" spinner. And a sanding block to attach to the motor shaft so I can sand the front smooth and flat. Sounds good anyway...lol

More work on the nose today gettin close still a bit more sanding. Started stab,elev and fin today also.

Tail starting to come together. Decided to go with the stock tail wheel set up. Should finish the tail fin fairing tonight

Everything dry fitting good,still even more sanding to do on nose and tail fairing but getting there. Time to figure out aileron servo mounts in the wing since I went with dual set up instead of stock single,I know what bay there goin in just need to get placement right and build mounts then I can place ailerons. Gettin there slow but sure.

Still progressing Just been doing misc. stuff like mounts for ailerons in wing and sanding control surfaces will post pics soon. Got my color scheme picked out and covering on the way. Also decided Im gonna run smoke on this one! Stay tuned.

Aileron mounts done besides making the slots a little neater. I think Im gonna need a little longer horns, If anyone has some for hitecs let me know.

Now I decided to do up the turtle deck. Still have plenty of sanding to do but I think It will work, just need to build per plans and fly... but still waiting for covering to show up and weather is shit here in Wa. so something to do.
